Fill in basic data for the panel
• This information will be used as metadata to pre-set
selections when opening design dialogs.
In, Ipk and Icp have big influence when
designing main busbars.
IP have influence when designing enclosures
and covering.
Ambient and Max. temperature have influence on
the calculation of the necessary cooling.
Enclosures first
• Insert enclosures. Thereby the metadata from each
enclosure will be added to the panel meta-data.
• Insert vertical barriers front and rear, in one click.
Panel depth and Barrier height will be pre-set
from metadata.

Inserts.
• Design by selecting the inserts in to the
drawing area.
Thereby the meta-data from each insert
will be added to the panel metadata
Vertical Busbars
• Insert the incoming section and vertical
distribution busbars
Main busbars
• Insert horizontal busbar
Location of busbarholders will be
adjusted to fit the vertical busbars
Covering
Inserting covers and doors are also based
on metadata.
• Start from the top. The size of the
covering will be automatically adapted.

Horizontal barriers
• Mark the complete panel. (Ctrl+A)
• Press the barrier wizard, to insert
barriers.
• Based on meta data, Galaxy will loop
through each inserted element, to
evaluate their surroundings and suggest
the best fitted barrier type. (either “None”
“SP” or “SPM”
• When Galaxy notes that a design is
wrong, it will display an alarm in the
design tree at the affected elements.
• Mark the element and the property
window will explain the design issue.

• Allow dialogs in 3D
Sometimes it is easier to overview the design when
working in 3D mode. When in 3D mode you may rotate
the panel to view the panel from the rear.
It is however still the “Display” view that decides the
insert point. Therefore it may require some experience to
work with this option active.
• Turbo Threshold
Rotating a large panel takes computer power.
This threshold allows you to define the amount of graphic
elements Galaxy should show in real time when rotating
the panel. When exceeding the threshold Galaxy will
reduce the resolution until the computer capacity allows
rebuild of the graphics.

Save as snippet
If you want to reuse a design, or a part of a design in
another panel you can save the parts as a snippet.
Save as Snippets will allow you to save the marked
elements and insert it in the same panel or any other
panel.

Define Purchase BOM
levels
•
• Items in the item database may be defined as:
• Phantom
• These items are virtual blocks of other items. Phantom items cannot be purchased, and will be broken down to a
lower BOM level. •
• BOM
• These items are physical assemblies of other items. They may be purchased at this level, or they may be broken
down to the parts the BOM consists off.
•
• Items
• These items are physical items, at the lowest BOM level.

Benefit from
Bulk
Optimize purchasing
CUBIC suggests optimizing logistics by purchasing common parts in bulk quantities.
In Galaxy the tool consists of four elements, that is explained further on the
following pages:
• Purchase suggestions
Setting in system menu that defines how Galaxy should suggest most adequate
purchase.
• Bulk report
Tool to evaluate stock level compared to current purchase requirement.
The tool is based on a report and a tool to correct purchase subsequently.
Page 27
Define Bulk settings on the
items
• Use Bulk
Galaxy is by default designed to use all available bulk
sizes.
Should you wish not to use one of these bulk items; press
the edit button, and remove the “Use Bulk” check
mark on the item in question.
Once you have done the changes, press to save, and
then to leave the bulk settings.
Page 28
Define Bulk settings in system
menu • Company Net price
Galaxy calculates panel prices in the most cost effective
way, from the bulk packages available.
Panel prices are calculated as a “Company Net price”
This price is calculated from the BOM-level of which you
purchase the individual parts.
When an item is purchased as bulk, you may define how
this should be taken into account on the single items
company Net price.
Default setting is “Largest quantity”. This will give you the
most competitive price.
To change the setting, go to “System/Company” and
change the value.
• Purchase suggestions
When a purchase order is calculated, Galaxy will by
default suggest the bulk size that gives you the lowest unit
price.
Choose between:
• Lowest unit price (always lowest price, regardless of
requested quantity)
• Near Quantity (Suggest the smallest Bulk size when
the large size is higher than requested quantity. When
requested quantity is higher than the large Bulk size,
Galaxy may suggest a combination of both Bulk items)
• None (Galaxy does not suggest Bulk items).
Page 29
Evaluate on hand stock prior to
purchasing
• Define panels
Mark one or more panels.
Use <Shift> or <Ctrl> to select more than one panel.
• Adjusting purchase
Any adjustments may be noted on the report, and given
back to the purchaser, who may correct the purchase
needs prior to creating the actual purchase order(s)

Purchase level “low” or “high”
The derived parts are marked “Bold” whereas the unused
items are marked “grey”.
• Phantom items
The right side window of a phantom item will display the
list of items within the phantom item.
At the bottom of the window the total price of the shown
items are summed up.
• BOM items
When purchase level is “Low” the BOM is broken down.
The right side window is divided into two parts
• Upper part shows the price details, had you
chosen to purchase at the “High” level
• Lower parts displays the list of item that derives
from the BOM.
At the bottom of the window the total price of the
derived items are summed up.
Page 35
Understanding Company Net price
• Items
• Upper part shows the Vendor price details
• Middle part shows the Company price in two
fields:
• Purchase:
Indicates the company price, when the
item is purchased as a single item
• Bulk optimized:
Indicates the company price, when
utilizing the “Bulk-option.
• Lower part shows details about the chosen Bulk
item.
• BOM items
When purchase level is “high” the BOM is not broken
down. Therefore the right side window follows the
description above as it is considered an “Item”
