when having used multiple screens.

Page 8
Personalize your Galaxy 2 of 3

In Galaxy 3.5 we introduce several new options to

optimize your use of Galaxy.

• Save design image

When you open a design in Galaxy, it takes time to build
the graphics.
You may reduce time by saving an image when you
leave the design.

• Validate after save

This option suggests you to run validation of panel
design prior to leaving the design.

• Close on apply
When reevoking a dialog to edit the element, you may
automatically close the dialog after pressing <Apply>

• Size selectors Auto

Galaxy 3.5 introduces many “Auto” options in dialogs.
This option will let you chose your initial setting for all
dialogs.
You may override this in each dialog.

Page 9
Personalize your Galaxy 3 of 3

In Galaxy 3.5 we introduce several new options to

optimize your use of Galaxy.

• Outline follow snap

When inserting elements, the reticle indicates the proper
insert point. This option allows you to chose if the outline
should follow the mouse pointer or the reticle

• Allow dialogs in 3D
Sometimes it is easier to overview the design when
working in 3D mode. When in 3D mode you may rotate
the panel to view the panel from the rear.
It is however still the “Display” view that decides the
insert point. Therefore it may require some experience to
work with this option active.

• Turbo Threshold
Rotating a large panel takes computer power.
This threshold allows you to define the amount of graphic
elements Galaxy should show in real time when rotating
the panel. When exceeding the threshold Galaxy will
reduce the resolution until the computer capacity allows
rebuild of the graphics.

Page 10
Forced horizontal or vertical move

Vertical move
• Click the toggle button
and move highlighted element(S)

Horizontal move
• Click the toggle button
and move highlighted element(S)

Lock
• To avoid un-intended changes of an
element, you can lock it. Thereby you
can not accidently change dialog
settings for the element.
• Unlock it will reset the lock

• Design Navigator and other tabs can be

hidden under normal drawing
circumstances by using the pin-button.

• It takes up considerable computer power

to maintain this design navigator. It may
therefor be useful to un-pin it allowing it
to collapse when not in use.

Page 15

Items with custom graphics, Basic data
You may define your own items and
define their graphical properties:

• 3D DWG file that should be shown in the panel

drawing.
• Dialog group defines the dialog in witch the item
should appear in panel design.
(See lower screen dump)
• Visual group manages the appearance in the panel
design – e.g. Should the component be visible in
“visual no cover” view mode. The group also
determines the font and text size of the attached texts.
• ID prefix is the default name of the component, when
inserted in a panel.
• Snap defines insert behaviour according to the modular
system.
• On surface allows the component insert point in depth
to fix to a surface. E.g. a door or mounting plate.

Tip:
When creating a new item, you may reuse settings from
an existing item :
Locate the item you want to use as template for a new
item and Press “<Shift> while clicking on new.

Define Purchase BOM
levels

• Items in the item database may be defined as:
• Phantom
• These items are virtual blocks of other items. Phantom items cannot be purchased, and will be broken down to a
lower BOM level. •
• BOM
• These items are physical assemblies of other items. They may be purchased at this level, or they may be broken
down to the parts the BOM consists off.

• Items
• These items are physical items, at the lowest BOM level.

• The Purchased items, are marked as “Bold” in the BOM

tree as shown to the top left.
• Default purchase level may be defined prior to item
import in the System/Company settings.
• The default setting may be adjusted on each individual
component in the item database, as shown to lower
left. (Click “Edit” to change the setting)

Page 26
Benefit from
Bulk
Optimize purchasing
CUBIC suggests optimizing logistics by purchasing common parts in bulk quantities.
In Galaxy the tool consists of four elements, that is explained further on the
following pages:

• Bulk items in Item database

The individual items and its associated bulk items are defined here.
The setting “Use bulk” determines if Galaxy should consider the Bulk item.

• Company Net price

Setting in system menu, defines how company net price is calculated.

• Purchase suggestions
Setting in system menu that defines how Galaxy should suggest most adequate
purchase.

• Bulk report
Tool to evaluate stock level compared to current purchase requirement.
The tool is based on a report and a tool to correct purchase subsequently.

Page 27
Define Bulk settings on the
items

• Items available in Bulk

From the Item database, click on to view or modify
the individual bulk settings

• Use Bulk
Galaxy is by default designed to use all available bulk
sizes.
Should you wish not to use one of these bulk items; press
the edit button, and remove the “Use Bulk” check
mark on the item in question.
Once you have done the changes, press to save, and
then to leave the bulk settings.

Page 28
Define Bulk settings in system
menu • Company Net price
Galaxy calculates panel prices in the most cost effective
way, from the bulk packages available.
Panel prices are calculated as a “Company Net price”
This price is calculated from the BOM-level of which you
purchase the individual parts.
When an item is purchased as bulk, you may define how
this should be taken into account on the single items
company Net price.
Default setting is “Largest quantity”. This will give you the
most competitive price.
To change the setting, go to “System/Company” and
change the value.

• Purchase suggestions
When a purchase order is calculated, Galaxy will by
default suggest the bulk size that gives you the lowest unit
price.
Choose between:
• Lowest unit price (always lowest price, regardless of
requested quantity)
• Near Quantity (Suggest the smallest Bulk size when
the large size is higher than requested quantity. When
requested quantity is higher than the large Bulk size,
Galaxy may suggest a combination of both Bulk items)
• None (Galaxy does not suggest Bulk items).

Page 29
Evaluate on hand stock prior to
purchasing
• Define panels
Mark one or more panels.
Use <Shift> or <Ctrl> to select more than one panel.

• Print Bulk requirement report

As you may have some of these parts on stock, you may
print a report and use it as a tool to evaluate if your
current stock will cover your needs.
Use the report when adjusting purchase suggestion prior
to creating the purchase order.
The “Index %” figure, states the percentage of the
suggested bulk size that is needed.

• Adjusting purchase
Any adjustments may be noted on the report, and given
back to the purchaser, who may correct the purchase
needs prior to creating the actual purchase order(s)

The right side window of a phantom item will display the
list of items within the phantom item.
At the bottom of the window the total price of the shown
items are summed up.

• BOM items
When purchase level is “Low” the BOM is broken down.
The right side window is divided into two parts
• Upper part shows the price details, had you
chosen to purchase at the “High” level
• Lower parts displays the list of item that derives
from the BOM.
At the bottom of the window the total price of the
