Windows 11 solution for Kiosk

This solution will need a VM virtualization to create a new copy of windows 10 with windows 11 as a
host computer.

PS – You can parallelly start the iso image download first from STEP-4.

Step 1 – Check if virtualization is enabled or not

 Go to Task manager
 Select the second option on left menu(performance).
 Please check if virtualization is enabled or not.

Step 2-Switch on virtualization (Only if virtualization is disabled)

 Please enable virtualization on your machine by following these steps: Set Up a Hyper-V
Virtual Machine on Windows 11 (ibm.com)

Step 3- Enable Hyper-V locally.(Requires restart of machine)

 Please follow this guideline to enable Hyper-v manager locally. - Set Up a Hyper-V Virtual

Step 4 – Download Windows 10 Iso hyper-v image

 Kindly download windows 10 Media for HyperV from PC@IBM: PC@IBM App Store.

Step 5 – Start a local machine with windows 10.

 After all the steps you will be able to locate Hyper-V manager from start menu.
 Please follow these remaining steps to install a windows 10 in vm - Set Up a Hyper-V Virtual

 After successful installation before starting VM, Please follow these steps - Set Up a Hyper-V

 After the above steps, you can start the VM with these steps - Set Up a Hyper-V Virtual

PS – Confirm 6th point to avoid reinstallation in above document

 It is recommended to use the VM in enhanced version as it will benefit in connecting with


host computer. It will help things like common clipboard for both vm and host.
 You will be able to fully use the VM to start Windows 10 locally after it. You can use your
official IBM mail to start this VM and you can either set up new or you can use same pin as
host for this machine.

Step 6 – (OPTIONAL) Create a shared folder to share files between both host and VM.

 Go to properties of the folder in host machine(in my case downloads).


 Select Advanced Sharing and click share this folder.

 Apply the changes

 From this menu you can copy the shared path.


 Go into VM and Right click on MyPC of windows 10.
 Click Map network drive.
 Paste the above network path and you will be able to see shared folder which will help in
setting up the windows.
