5>2 5<6 3=3
7>6 1<3 1=1
Class, the (<) is symbol of less than and the (>) is
symbol of greater than while (=) is symbol of
equal.
Pre- Activity
Now, the class will be divided into three groups.
Count 1-3.
1..2..3..1..2..3..1..2..3..
Do all of you have a group?

task and 4 minutes to present it.
Again, what are you going to do while doing your
group activity?
Participate and avoid undesirable
noise.
That’s good!
Activity card:
Direction: From the given set of examples of
comparing numbers. Write all of your group’s
observation.
What to do:
1. Observe the set of given examples of
comparing numbers.
2. Write all your observation based on the given
examples.
3. Explain to the whole class your group
observation.
Greater than Less than Equal
(For group 1) (For group 2) (For group 3)
> < =
2>1 1<2 2=2
7>3 9 < 10 9=9
9>5 5<8 4=4
Times up!
All groups, please prepare for your presentation.
C. Explain
Group report
Le us now present your work.
Group 1, you may now begin.
(Group 1)
Good morning again everyone, we
are the group one who are
assigned to observe the examples
of Greater than. Here are our
observations:
The symbol of greater than
is >
The numbers in left side are
greater than the number in
right side.
The number is unequal
The number in left side is
more than in right side.
The symbol of greater than
is faced on the bigger
number.
The arrow points are in the
smaller number.
That’s all classmates.
Very good, Group 1!
Let us give them a mosquito clap.
Group 2, you may now proceed. Good morning teacher and good
morning classmates. I am the
presenter of group 2. Here are our
observation in the examples of less
than:
The symbol of less than is <
The numbers in left side are
lower than the number in
right side.
The numbers in left and right
are unequal.
The arrow point is in bigger
number.
Lower than
Having less value
Excellent!
Please give the group 2 a bomb clap.
Last group, you may start begin.
Good morning again everyone! We
are the group 3, the last group. We
are assigned to observe the
examples of numbers with equal
sign. Here are our observations:
The equal sign is =
The numbers in left and right
are same.
Equal
The numbers are exact
same amount
No more than and less than.
Very good! Group 3.
Please give them a fireworks clap!
We observe in the three column the difference of
less than, greater than and equal. We already
knew what are bigger and smaller number when
we compare them. The three symbols will help us
to determine if the number is higher, lower or
equal to another.
