Course Content: This course provides students with a practical and comprehensive
understanding of the management of the multinational corporations
(MNCs). In this course, students will (1) learn about international
business strategy and organization, and (2) gain the ability to deal with
the various problems in managing business operations internationally.
By taking this course, students will gain the fundamental knowledge of
international management, and develop their global perspective to
become a future ethical business leader in the global marketplace

Grading: Class participation 5%


Mid-term exam 30%

Group case presentation 10%
Two case write-ups @ 5 points each 10%

Policy: All written assignments must be submitted by the due dates, and late
reports will not be graded.

Group case
presentation: Three to six students as a group should present a business case on the
date when it is scheduled to be discussed in class. A case will be
assigned to each group. After the presentation, the group should upload
their presentation file as the final report to the cyber classroom
(LearnUs) on the same date.

Two case write-ups: Students are required to turn in two case write-ups in this class. He/she
should choose two cases that are not assigned to their group for the
group presentation. The case report should be no more than five
typewritten double-spaced pages excluding supporting materials. The
student should upload the report file to LearnUs by the date we will
discuss the case.

Group project: A paper will be written by a group of students. Each group will select a
global industry to conduct research covering the relevant issues on
international management. The group can choose any global industry.
Good examples include automobiles, computers, telecommunications, e-
commerce, semiconductors, consumer electronics, and pharmaceuticals.
The project should investigate how incumbent firms conduct their
international business in the industry and draw useful managerial
implications from its findings. Papers must be typewritten and double-
spaced, with about 15 pages in length, excluding supporting materials.
Each group is expected to present its paper for 20 minutes near the end
of the course. The proposal for the group project should be submitted to
LearnUs no later than April 12. The group is also required to upload the
presentation file and final report file to LearnUs by the due date.
