III. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

Good morning class! Good morning, Teacher!

Before we begin, let us all stand for our (One student will lead the prayer)
opening prayer.

Alright! Please take your sit and let’s (Student’s raise their hand and say

Before we go to our topic, How’s your It was good Teacher!

day, class?
A. Preparatory Activities

1. DRILL
Now let us all stand and do the
action song entitled “It’s our
science time” (The pupils sing and dance along
with the teacher)

2. REVIEW
So, let’s have a short recap about our
topic last time. Anybody from the class We talk about the major organs of
can recall what is our discussion? the human body and its functions,
Anyone? ma’am.

Very good!
So, did you answer the assignment? Yes ma’am!
Please submit it in front class.
(Two pupils collect the notebook of
their classmates)
B. Developmental Activities
1. Motivation
To begin with our lesson for today, let’s
have first a game.

Are you excited? Yes teacher!

Let me know if you’re ready, clap your (The student will execute actively)
hand three times, then say ready!

Okay this game is called “Assemble Me”

Directions:
The class will be divided in to three
groups. Each group will be given an
envelope, each envelope has cutout (The pupils will participate actively)
pieces of pictures. Every group will
assemble the cutout piece of picture and
paste it on the board.
Group 1: Brain

Group 2: Spinal Cord

Group 3: Nerves
2. Presentation of the Lesson

Based on the picture that you have all

assembled, what do you think will be our
topic for today? (pupils raising their hands)
I think our lesson for today is
Very good, class! You all have an idea, about parts of the brain ma’am!
about what we are going to tackle
Its about human body ma’am!
Our topic for today is about Nervous
System.

3. Setting of Standards

Before we begin our lesson for today,

May I know if anyone could still remember
our class rules;
What we should do if teacher is Sit properly and listen carefully
discussing in front? ma’am!

And how about the proper way to ask Avoid talking to my seatmate
question? ma’am!

Great job everyone as you still remember We should raise our hand before
our class rules. asking you ma’am.

4. Discussion

Our topic for today is about Parts of the

Nervous System and its Function.

May I request someone to please read (Jeaben raise his hand)

the first paragraph.

Okay Brellian please read the first (Jeaben read the first paragraph)
paragraph.

Parts of Nervous System and its

function

The nervous system is the major

controlling, regulatory, and
communicating system in the body. It is
the center of all mental activity including
thought, learning, and memory. The
nervous system is made up of three main
parts: Brain, Spinal cord and Nerves.

Based on what you have read what have

you understand? What I understand is that the
nervous system is the body’s core.
Excellent Jeaben, you have a great idea!
Let’s give a fireworks clap to Jeaben.
(Pupils performing fireworks clap)
The brain is the messaging center of the
nervous system. It is protected by the
skull. It consists of cerebrum, cerebellum (The pupils will listen carefully to
and medulla. the discussion)
The cerebrum is located at the upper
part and is the largest part of the brain
contains the major lobes of the brain. It is
divided into four areas; each area
controls different part of the body.
The cerebellum located below the
cerebrum coordinates the voluntary
movements. It controls motor functions
and muscular activity.
Medulla it is located below the
cerebellum and in front of cerebrum. The
brain is connected to the spinal cord
through the medulla. It transmitted the
message that the brain and the rest of the
body sent. Medulla is responsible of all
the automatic functions of the body.

What re the three parts of the brain?

(Mylene raise her hand)
Okay Mylene please answer.
The three parts of the brain are;
The cerebrum, cerebellum and
Thank you Mylene. Let’s give a Dionesia medulla.
Clap.
(Pupils performing Dionesia Clap)
Spinal Cord connects your brain to your
lower back. Your spinal cord carries
nerve signals from your brain to your body
and vice versa. The spinal cord is the
pathway for messages sent by the brain
to the body and from the body to the
brain.
Nerve cells are called neurons.
Three types of neurons;
Sensory nerves are responsible for
physical stimuli. They carry messages
from the sense organs to the nervous
system.
Motor nerves carry signals to your
muscles or glands to help you move and
function.
Mixed nerves are the nerves that
perform both the action of sensory nerves
as well as a motor nerve
Let us watch and listen to the
video to add more understanding about
the nervous system.
(The pupils will watch the video
presented)

5. Generalization / Abstraction (The pupils will be called randomly

and answer the question)
Let’s answer these following questions:
Nerve, Brain and Spinal Cord

1. What are the parts of nervous Brain is the messaging center of the
system that we discuss? nervous system, Spinal Cord
2. carries nerve signals from the brain,
3. Give the functions of those three and lastly Nerves are called
parts of nervous system. neurons that has three types, the
Sensory Nerves, Motor Nerves and
Mixed Nerves.

The Cerebrum
4. What is the largest part of the
brain? It is important because it controls
5. In your own understanding, what is complicated processes like
the importance of the nervous movement, thought, and memory of
system in our body? humankind.

6. Application
Let’s have now a by group activity. Fill
the box below according to the parts of
the nervous system. Use the words below
and after answering, share your output to
the class and state its functions.

Activity: Where am I belong?

C.) Respiratory System
D.) Endocrine System
2. The outer layer of the brain:
A.) Skin
B.) Hair
C.) Skull
D.) Scalp
3. The nervous system is made up of these three parts:
A.) Brain, Heart, and Spinal Cord
B.) Nerves, Arteries, and Veins
C.) Nerves, Liver, and Heart
D.) Brain, Spinal Cord, and Nerves
4. Which part of the body is the control center for the nervous system:
A.) Spinal Cord
B.) Brain
C.) Stomach
D.) Heart
5. Without the nervous system, we couldn’t:
A.) Walk
B.) Breathe
C.) Think
D.) All of the above

V. Assignment

Brain Games

Instructions: Circle one of the activities (or write your own) and spend at least 10 minutes
each day practicing it. Try to improve every day for a week. Each day, on a scale of 0 to
10 (0 meaning you can’t do the task at all, 10 meaning you can do it perfectly), rate how
well you’re doing compared with the day before. Make sure to notice, as you practice and
your neurons make new pathways, if the activity gets easier. Remember, you might not
get the activity completely right in a week, but you should be getting a little better at it
each day!

• Learn a multiplication table

• Memorize a poem
• Learn a new song on an instrument, a new dance, or lyrics to a song
• Learn how to juggle
• Memorize all the capital countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, or South America
• Learn to sew, knit, or crochet
• Say the ABCs backward
• Learn relatives’ phone numbers, birthdates, or the years they were born
• Count to 20 in a different language
• Learn how to spell 20 (or more) new words
• Learn a new basketball shot
