Level System Reference Guide
✓ Pre-beginner
This level student needs to learn from basic English including phonics, alphabet
pronunciation, simple sentences and basic conversation skills from greeting. Utilize a lot
of visual materials including songs, pictures and activities that would grab their interest in
learning English prior to conducting formal lesson. No English diary checking required;
but learning 1 sentence a day should be conducted.
✓ Beginner
This level student has basic knowledge of English alphabet & phonics and they can
pronounce most of the vocabulary properly. They need to learn basic conversation
expressions and vocabulary for Grade 1 – 3 level reading stories. No English diary
checking required; but learning 2 sentences a day should be conducted as a homework.
✓ Pre-Intermediate
This level student has knowledge of basic English expression and able to read the
sentences. The student can answer the question with complete sentence with grammar
error. The student can start learning basic grammar and read materials good for grade 4-
5. English diary checking required.
✓ Intermediate
This level student learned basic grammar and intermediate reading. The student can learn
intermediate grammar and advance reading materials for grade 5- 6 level. The student
can answer the question with complete sentence with minor error. English diary checking
required as well as giving of homework.
✓ Pre-Advance
This level student has already mastered intermediate level grammar and reading. Student
can fluently express their opinion in complete sentence with minor error. The student
needs to learn advanced grammar and writing as well as reading passage good for grade
7-8 level. English diary is required with homework.
✓ Advance
This level student has started learning advanced grammar and reading and ready to
proceed to reading material good for grade 8-9. Student can express their opinion using
complicated sentences using adverbial phrase & relative clauses. The student knows most
of English vocabulary and ready to learn idioms and special expressions. Give the student
essay topic everyday as part of homework and check their grammar and content at the
start of the lesson.
✓ IVY-Bridge
✓ This level student has started learning advanced grammar and reading and ready to
proceed to reading material good for grade 10-11. Student can express their opinion
using complicated sentences using adverbial phrase & relative clauses and freely use
grammar expressions with almost no grammar error. The student knows most of English
vocabulary and ready to learn idioms and special expressions. Give the student essay
topic everyday as part of homework and check their grammar and content at the start of
the lesson.
✓ IVY-MASTER
This level student can start learning intermediate TOEFL topics with advanced grammar,
writing, reading and speaking skills with good vocabulary knowledge. Student can
express their opinion without any grammar error and close to native speaker. Give the
student essay topic everyday as part of homework and check their grammar and content
at the start of the lesson.
⚫ Giving of homework is required for all levels unless it is requested otherwise.
⚫ Adult student may be given different instructions.
⚫ This guideline is just general guideline. On the first day of the class, assess the level of
the student whether it fits with the book, and send feedback to the Korean manager.
⚫ Make sure to be flexible in applying the level system and update it in Gsheet when the
student advanced to next level book.
⚫ It is teachers’ responsibility and duty to read each and every provision of this
guideline thoroughly and follow them in the conduct of class. Any complaints
received in connection with the violation of the guideline on progress report, class
conduct, etc., shall be subject to warning and corresponding penalty.
Class Conduct Guide
✓ On the first session with new student, prepare for routine introductory class. Introduction
and getting-to-know each other prior to conducting formal lesson. Make sure that
student is relaxed and getting interested in the class.
✓ On the succeeding lesson, make sure to check English diary and homework and incorrect
answers at the beginning of the session and conduct review of prior lesson before
conducting formal lesson.
✓ During the review of previous lesson, if the student does not get it fully, make sure to
review it thoroughly.
✓ Teach student at least 1 – 2 new English daily expressions a day and make sure to check
it in succeeding class, so the student will memorize it. Make it as routine conversation, so
student will accept it naturally.
✓ English diary and homework can be provided through skype chatting function, Microsoft
Word, PDF, PPT, Memo tool or any other options. Student can manually write it and take
a picture, then send via Skype. When the homework requires copy of book, provide it to
student.
✓ Screenshot of homework with corrections must be pasted in the Gsheet report.
✓ Be prepared with the lesson, devise activities, other materials fit for today’s lesson. Make
sure to pre-read the textbook and fully understand it.
✓ Be prepared at least 5 minutes prior to the class time. Break time of 10 minutes is for
preparation for next class.

Advance
1. Compensation and Incentive
✓ Salaries shall be computed on hourly basis.
◼ If absence of student was notified at least 1 hour prior to the class time it will not be
included in the salary computation. It will be subject to make-up class.
◼ If absence of student was notified within 1 hour from the class, it will be marked as
“Class done” and will be included in the salary computation.
✓ Absence
◼ Teachers are required to inform their scheduled absence at least 1 week prior to the
actual date and to provide make-up class for the students. In providing make-up
class, teachers must exert their best efforts to spare time fit for student’s need.
◼ In case of student or teachers’ absence, if make-up class is not conducted, the class
hour will just be reflected for the succeeding class hour.
◼ In case of the following emergency, corresponding documents must be submitted.
◆ Medical certificate – For medical related emergency
◆ Internet or Power disruption – Proof of disruption issued by internet provider or
electricity provider.
◆ Without the corresponding documents, it will be marked as unexcused absence.
◆ Any other absence will not be considered as an emergency.
◆ Even for emergency, teachers must inform their absence as soon as it is
confirmed. It must be at least couple hours prior to the absence. Unless
otherwise, it was proven to be emergency that happened out of sudden.
◼ For unexcused absence or short notice, teachers will be required to conduct make-
up class without additional charge. If there will be no make-up class, corresponding
amount will be deducted against the salary. In addition, it will result in 1 formal
warning. 3 accumulated warnings would result to dismissal from the work.
◼ For unnotified absence or short notice & chronic tardiness, not following guidelines
(not turning on camera, homework, etc.) would be subject to penalty which would be
deducted from the net salary. (warning – 1st offense, Php 500 – 2nd offense, Php 600
– following offenses and reimbursement to the students for providing additional
classes and substitute teacher)
◼ For the absence or schedule, administrative concerns, DO NOT directly communicate
with students, but inform them to approach Korean manager. Anything not informed
formally will not be considered.
✓ Salary shall be deposited on 16th and the first day of the following month via Gcash or
Bank Transfer.
◼ If it falls on holiday or weekend, it will be deposited before or after the date.
✓ INCENTIVE
◼ The following incentive shall be provided to the qualified teacher.
◼ Incentive shall be added to the month-end salary. (2nd cut-off at 1st day)
◼ Qualified teachers are teachers who qualify any of the following requirement.
◆ Teaching average of 8 hours a day for the whole month.
◆ Teaching less than average of 8 hours a day; however, working full-time for
Ivy Online or offline class without having student outside the company. In
this case, incentive will be pro-rated by the average number of hours
rendered – For this, teachers need to inform and certify full-time working.
◼ Attendance Incentive
◆ Without absence or tardiness for whole months: 2,000 pesos
◆ Without absence but with 1 tardiness : 1,500 pesos
◆ Without absence but with 2 tardiness : 1,000 pesos
◆ Absence or tardiness refers both unexcused and excused. This is to provide
incentive teachers who provide consistent service to the students.
◼ Student Evaluation Incentive
◼ Parents will be provided with survey form every 3 months.
◼ The survey will include the following criteria.
◆ Satisfactory level on class conducts & contents.
◆ Pronunciation, accent, intonation
◆ Punctuality or Timeliness
◆ Other class details (Camera, internet connectivity, etc.)
◼ Based on the survey result if the evaluation garners more than 80%. Incentive
of 2,000 pesos shall be provided on the same month-end salary.
2. General
✓ All the instructors of IVY Academy Online English will be assigned to student for
respective timeline.
✓ If the student is absent without notice, call the student 3 times with 5 minutes interval
after which mark the student as absent. However, please leave the line open since
student might call even late since it is considered as class done. Not responding to late
call may be subject to make-up class. If possible, extend the class to make up for
tardiness.
✓ Teachers and students must always have their WEB-CAM ON. Please always have reliable
connection ready. If there is any problem related, inform the Korean manager promptly, if
not informed it will be subject to penalty.
✓ Refrain from using cell phone, doing other staff during the class. This is important
especially when this is a home-based session.
✓ Teachers must use appropriate words in handling the class. Be professional. Refrain from
speaking Korean language even though you know how to speak.
✓ Refrain from screen sharing English-Korean dictionary while explaining words to the
student.
✓ Do not, at all times, be SNS friends with the student. Private communication with the
student through SNS or other facility shall be the ground for termination and relevant
damages will be claimed by the corporation.
✓ Be on time, prepared at least 5 minutes before the class.
✓ Report any misbehavior, no homework or other incident to the manager immediately.
✓ Books and curriculum will be provided. Separate online training sessions may be
conducted to assist teachers in preparing for the lesson.
✓ If any of materials are requested by the students, must confirm with the management.
✓ Teachers must compose weekly lesson report for all students through their designated
Gsheet. It must be fully accomplished with effort since it will be basis for the salary
computation after cross-checking with the student record.
✓ Maintain the class fun while learning happens.
✓ Refrain from talking personal things or sensitive issues, especially for gender-sensitive
issues. It may lead to legal issues.
3. Elements of Gsheet student progress report shall be indicated in the Gsheet.
◼ Failure to accomplish all or part of progress report by the end of cut-off may result into
delay in salary release. Management shall inform teachers of lacking portion and once
the correction is confirmed, salary will be released.
◼ Penalty for not accomplishing the progress report.
◼ 1st & 2nd violation: warning
◼ 3rd & 4th violation: Delay in salary release for 1 week.
◼ 5th violation onward: Penalty of 250 pesos deducted from salary.
