Scenario Information

Scenario Name:
Create Info Objects.

Scenario Description:

This scenario is used to describe the logical steps to create an Info Area and Info Objects. Also,
you will create:
 Create Characteristics Catalog
 Key Figure catalog
 Characteristics
 Key Figures
 Time Characteristics

Basic Outline of the Process steps:

1. Decide the naming convention to be used for the creation of Characteristics and Key
Figures.

2. Decide Number and types of Characteristics and Key Figure to be created.

Expected results:

Characteristics and Key Figures are created successfully.

Note:

XX has been used as reference naming convention. Use D01 – D10 in place of XX to create your
unique naming convention.
Data Warehousing Workbench:

Every procedure related to creating and maintaining infoarea and info Objects are maintained through the
program Data Warehousing Workbench.

Info Area (APO BW):


The Info Area is used to catalog Infocubes, allowing them to be assigned more effectively. Info Area is merely
an entity to group info cubes.

Workbench, in the
Modeling Section,
click on
InfoProvider .

Right-click the
node InfoProvider
and choose Create
InfoArea.

Enter the name
(XXINFOAREA)

Enter the Long

INFO AREA) of the
new InfoArea in the
popup window.

Press Enter.

Info Object Catalogs:

The Info Object Catalog is used to catalog the info objects, which have been created as characteristics, time
characteristics, or key figures.

Key Figure catalog
in the popup
window.
Select the radio-
button Key Figure.

Click create.

Clidk Activate icon.

After activation the
Key Figure catalog
(XX KEY CATLOG)
appears in the
InfoObjects section
Characteristics:
Characteristics represent the planning levels. One or multiple characteristics make up the key of data record.
Characteristics are definitions, not the data. They can be used to describe multiple planning areas.
