Artist
- All artist’s work aims to create an overall reaction from a viewer.
- All fine artist first learn to sketch and begin with a pencil and sketch pad to work with an idea on paper.
They transfer their visions to canvas or other medium and this may mean working in pencils, oils, water
color or pastels.

- Artisan are craftsmen who make practical artistic product.
- Artisans gain their knowledge by studying under master craftsmen and practicing with continued study.
They work to create something new, original and at times, provocative.

Production is a word with many meanings. It can refer to the making of something, or to a final product,
like theatrical performance. It can be the process of bringing a song or musical work to life or honing that
work to perfection.
● What Does It Have to Do with Art?
Production is at the heart of making art. Artists and theorists have long acknowledge its importance both
as an artistic action and an idea to be explored.
PRODUCTION PROCESS
-The process of creating an artwork does not necessarily follow a linear progression. Artwork requires
creativity, which does not always adhere to convention that artists usually used to do.

i. Initial = 100,000
ii. 10,000 monthly financial assistance
iii. Gold medallion
iv. 14,000 monthly personal allowance
vi. 750,000 maximum cumulative amount (medical & hospitalization benefits – annually).
After evaluating the list of nominees will be submitted to Gawad sa manlilikha ng bayan
committee to submit to the NCCA. If it’s approved the names shall be, to the president by the
Philippines for proclamation.

Gazette of the Philippines
Criteria for the selection of National Artists from the Official Gazette of the
Philippines\
Process of Nomination and Conferment of the Order ; Following Criteria for
the selection of National Artist from the Official Gazette of the Philippines:
1. Artists who were citizens of the Philippines at the time of nomination and
passed away after the award's creation are eligible.
2. Artists that have contributed to Filipino nationhood through their works.
3. Artists who have pioneered a style of creative expression or style have made
an impact on future generations.
4. Artists who have consistently displayed excellence in their art form enrich
their artistic expression or style.
5. Artists who enjoy broad acceptance through:
6. Prestigious national/international recognition such as the Gawad CCP Para
sa Sining, CCP Thirteen Artists Award and NCCA Alab ng Haraya
7. Critical acclaim and/ reviews of their works
8. Respect and esteem from peers.
Honors and privileges to the National Artists from the Official Gazette of the
Philippines
- The rank and title of National Artist ( Proclaimed by the President of the
Philippines.
- The Insignia of a National Artist and citation;
- A lifetime emolument and material and physical benefits comparable in
value to those received by the highest officers of the land such as:
A cash award of One Hundred Thousand Pesos (P100,000) net of taxes,
for living awardees
A cash award of Seventy-Five Thousand Pesos (P75,000) net of taxes,
for posthumous awardees, payable to legal heir/s
A monthly life pension, medical and hospitalization benefits
Life insurance coverage for awardees who are still insurable
A state funeral and burial at the libingan ng mga Bayani

The Short Summaries of the Lives and Achievements of the National Artists
Amelia Lapena-Bonifacio
- She is known as the grand Dame of southeast Asian
Children’s theatre.
- She is the founder and playwright-director of the
Teatrong’ Mulat ng Pilipinas, which has placed the
Philippines on the artistic map of world theatre.
- She has written most of the plays performed by the group
based on material culled from careful researches.
- She has been involved in the production and design of
puppets.
Ryan Cyabyab
- He is the most accomplished composer, arranger and
musical director in the Philippine music industry since it
bloomed beginning 1970s.
- His skillful and versatile musical style spans a wide range
of genres from compositions such as concert religious
music, symphonic work, art song, opera and concerto to
mainstream popular idioms in music industry and live
contemporary shows.
Francisco T. Mañosa
- was a Filipino architect considered one of the most
influential Filipino architects of the 20th century
- He passionately created original Filipino forms, spaces with
intricate and define details.
- He has developed a legacy of Philippine architecture, which
is essential to our filipino identity.
Resil B. Mojares
- Resil is a teacher and scholar, essayist and fictionist, and
cultural and literary Historian.
- He is acknowledge as a leading figure in the promotion of
regional literature and history.
- As the founding director of the Cebuano Studies Center, a
significant research organization that helped to establish
Cebu as a research and documentation hub, he paved the
way for the development of the Cebuano and national
identities.
- Over 50 years he published in diverse forms (fiction, essay,
journalism, scholarly articles and books) across a wide
range of discipline (literature, history, biography, cultural
studies)
- He has published 17 books and edited, co-edited, or co-
authored 11 books, and written numerous articles for
popular and scholarly publications.
Ramon Muzones
- Ramon was Hiligaynon poet, essayist, short story
writer, critic, grammarian, editor, lexicographer,
and novelist who authored an unprecedented 61
completed novels. A number of these represents
groundbreaking “firsts” in Hiligaynon literature such as
the feminist Ang Bag-ong Maria Clara, the roman a
clef Maambong Nga Sapat (Magnificent Brute, 1940),
the comic Si Tamblot (1946), The longest serialized
novel, Dama de Noche (1982-1984, 124 installments),
etc. Hailed by his peers as the longest reigning (1938-
1972) among “the three kings of the Hiligaynon
novel”
- He brought about its most radical changes while
ushering in modernism.
- His literary career spanned 53 years (1938-1990). It can
be noted that the qualifications of GAMABA is quite
higher compared to the National Artist.

Plastic Arts, Decorative Arts, Performing Arts & Architecture. Artists aims to create an overall
reaction from a viewer, while Artisan are craftsmen who make practical artistic product.
There are many Ccareer Information Involving Art and Performing Arts and these are
Choreographer, Singer/MusicianSet & Exhibit, Designers, CostumeAttendants, Make-up
Artists, Art Director, Actor, Dancer, DirectorCraft & Fine Artists, Photographer,
Multimedia Artists, Performing Arts Manager or Arts Administrator. While there are 10
Needed Skills and Qualifications of a Career in Art namely; Organization, Accounting,
The Law, Fundraising, Marketing, Public Reaction, Flexibility, Art Dealer, Art
Collectors & Art Buyer. In Production, there are 3 processes includes Pre-Production,
Production & Post-Production. In order to have another set of nominees for receiving an
award as GAMABA Artist or NATIONAL Artist, It has to be approved by AD HOC
PANEL OF EXPERTS to be pass to AD HOC SEARCH and pass to AD HOC
SCREENING and reviewed by AD HOC PANEL OF REVIEWERS and confirmed by
GAMABA members and lastly should be approved by the PRESIDENT. These are some
of the members of the GAMABA Artits that was discovered by their individual talents in
Art namely; Ginaw Bilog, Masino Intaray, Samaon Sulainab, Lang Dulay, Alonzo
Saclag, Federico Caballero, Uwang Ahadas, Darhata Sawabi, Eduardo Mutuc, Haja
Amina Appi, Teofilo Garcia, Estelita Bantilan, Magdalena Gaayois, Ambalang Ausalin,
Yabing Masalon Dulo. NATIONAL Artist received an Insignia which composed of a
grand collar featuring circular links portraying the arts and an eight-pointed
conventionalized sunburst and the talented and Achiever People who Received the
National Artist Award are the following: Lauro “Larry” Alcala, Amelia Lapano-
Bonifacio, Ryan Cayabyab, Kidlat Tahimik, Francisco T. Mañosa, Resil B, Mojares,
Ramon Muzones. Lastly, In Organizing an Event , Exhibit and Managing Audience We
need to consider the Event Concept (Why, Whom, When, Where, What), Event
Coordination ( Productive brainstorming, Delegation of vspecific tasks, Event
Culmination (Actualization Comparing and contrastin, Event Control (Result of previous
planning), Event Closeout (Reviewing & Evaluating). By learning this Lesson this will
help us to Understand the Arts Industries and how it works in society and to see how
those Artist awarded and the Process of Searching for the Nominees to get the Award
and lastly, be able to realize the impotant of arts in society.
