Comments on areas such as human relations aspects of their work, including leadership and
management skills;
R.S. Bernaldo & Associates (RSBA) top management has embedded to each employee
that help is within their hands. I have observed that without proper engagement and coordination,
an Audit Group won’t be able to achieve its objective of forming an independent opinion on the
financial statements. With that being said, the company manages its roles while maintaining
good working management by empowering them to be receptive to the manager’s feedback and
increases understanding and perspective of uncovering the aspects at work that needs
improvement. In 2022, RSBA celebrates its 28th year in service, the leadership and management
skills of the firm have been effective and tested throughout the years as it builds a collaborative
atmosphere that fosters a trustworthy workplace where employees are encouraged to share
The firm was composed of five (5) audit groups. Each group has different clients that
vary from small to big companies from domestic to foreign countries. The audit group where I
was assigned to be an intern, has an engagement with large companies that has complex
transactions, and it would be inconvenient for them if they will do all the tasks such as vouching,
tracing, and other clerical works for there are only limited time to finish the whole audit process.
As their intern, they are grateful that I was able to join the fieldwork since I have assisted them
to finish their tasks efficiently and simultaneously observed how they arrived at those sample
documents that were used in the working papers. With the help of teamwork, the group was able
to accomplish the goals on time and solve all the conflicts that may arise if each member
Technical – Based on my observation, new employees and interns in the company use a
laptop that has slow processing as compared to the high rank profile who uses a newer
and latest version of laptop. Due to this, some of the work of audit associate are being
interrupted because of the malfunction of the devices used for working with a client. For
instance, there are webinar with different audit group but there are some technical
problems such as slow internet connection and not audible sound to be encountered
machine of the company because I was tasked to reproduce the financial statements. No
one was able to help me since most of my group was busy at that time. I have resolved it
through searching online how to operate it, however, it took me so long before I totally
fixed the machine. Aside from this, the simultaneous activities from internship reports
meeting the deadlines since both subject consumes time and effort.
Physical – Traveling to Makati City from Pangasinan to do an internship for summer
class is a big adjustment for me since this is my first time to experience how to live
independently for almost two (2) months in this busy city. It took me a while before I get
to used to surviving alone. My first three (3) weeks was the hardest part since I am
experiencing colds and flu while doing all the reports at the same time.
Social – Entering in one of the prestigious audit firms in the Philippines means I have to
deal with different types of people. During the orientation in RSBA, interns are reminded
that we cannot please everyone. Hence, I have to be polite in dealing with professional
people even though some of them have strong personality that makes me feel intimidated.
However, I have conquered that feeling by thinking that I have to learned how to build
my interpersonal skills because business leaders should care about people management
operations;
