2.0 Introduction

Every single Manager – precisely a Project manager, knows that selecting the appropriate

methodology is key to getting the job right and done. Under our current project – the

sustainability program, which aims to strengthen and revive the economy of Ghana, the farmers
would get access to on-the-job training with experts as well as other hardware that would help

expand the agricultural yield. The project would also improve the livelihood of farmers and their

children in the secondary level without placing any monetary burden on these farmers.

2.1 Who Is a Project Manager?

Basically, a Project Manager is one responsible for setting out a milestone in a project. In other

words, they play the key role of Identifying a project, planning it, executing it and closing of the

project. They are liable for the entire project –the scope, project team, resources and even the

success or failure of the project.

2.2 Project Scope Statement

This Project is categorised under four branches. That is, Provision of Technical training from

Experts, Supply of Fertilisers(organic and inorganic), the availability of a licensed buying

Company (LBC) as well as access to Healthcare and Education,.

Provision of Technical training from Experts. Cargill looks for nothing but the best.

We invest in our Team members by hiring experts to assist our team in handling modern

technology so as to speed up the output process. Aside technological assistance, our farmers

would also be taught on ways to create the right climate for a successful harvest and how to

improvise should the need arise.

Supply of Fertilisers (organic and inorganic). Correctly applied fertiliser is very key to

increasing farm productivity and cocoa yields. Our Partnership with Cacao Allyie fertiliser

initiative in Côte d’Ivoire is helping us make sure our farmers get access to the best fertilisers for

a healthy crop growth. They sell to farmers, either for immediate payment or on 30-day credit
terms which reduces the burden of heavy monetary cost on our farmers. The Fertilisers we

provide also helps to control pest and diseases that would affect the health of the Cocoa.

We added Licensed Buying Company (LBC). Our LBC is fully e-money enabled. This

allows us (Cargill) to pay farmers directly by electronic transfer, ensuring the money reaches the

grower swiftly, safely and accurately. It would also contribute to the government’s vision of a

cashless economy. With Cargill, everything is made simple.

Finally, Access to Healthcare and Education. These are benefits of the local farmers

agreeing to be a part of the Cargill Agricultural community. Aside these farmers incurring low

monetary cost, their nearest family (children) get to benefit through free education in the

secondary level. Our Partnership with CARE– A global leader within a worldwide movement

dedicated to saving lives and ending poverty, would help provide assistance on the basis of need,

regardless of race, creed or nationality addressing the rights of vulnerable groups, particularly

women and girls. This is because, we believe poverty cannot be overcome without ensuring

equality and opportunities for all.
