Introduction
This manual covers the (automatic) Assessment module in the Poseidon Pharos GMDSS
simulator.
The Assessment module allows the instructor to organize a session where students are assigned
exams/scenarios with various objectives to complete. When a student’s exam is completed, a
report is automatically generated with the results of how well it was performed.
License
Assessment is a license protected feature. If you are interested, please contact
[email protected].
Scenario Editor
Not included in the Assessment module, but available as an own licensed module is the Scenario
Editor, where scenarios and objectives can be created for use with automatic assessment, based
on complex rules and queries.
Getting started
The Pharos GMDSS Simulator is separated into different programs based on usage. Currently
there are four main programs:
● The Pharos server, running the exercise/exam.
● The Debrief server, responsible for recording the exercise/exam.
● The Instructor station, a program for assessment coordination. Controlling student
start/end exam, supervision of student(s) progress and creating the exam report.
● The Student station, a client program where the exam is taken place and executed.
These programs are all required to run before starting examination. Often but not necessarily, the
first three can run on one computer, while the student application is run on separate computers for
each actual student being assessed.
Manage examination
Supervising connected student stations and exams progress.
Reports
From the assessor view reports for an executed exam can be created for display, printing or save
to disk for later usage.
