BIOGAS FLARING SYSTEM

Gas flaring system is installed to burn excess biogas generated at the STP. The burning capacity
of the flares is 500cum/Hr. The biogas flaring system consist of the following equipment.
 Moisture separator,
 Flame arrestor,
 Check valve,
 Pressure regulating valve,
 Flare gas burner (6m height from ground level),
 Pilot gas burner with push button ignition complete with ignition electrode,
 Diaphragm type pressure gauge,
 Low gas pressure switch.

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
FLARE BURNER
 Pull out the wind shield by unscrewing the clamping bolt for wind Shield. Disconnect the
pilot line from the pilot flame arrestor top flange
 Separate the pilot burner assembly with ignition system from the retainer
 Pull out the retainer from the mixing tube by opening the four nut bolts.
 Clean the injector plate holes by using min. 6mm dia rod.
 Remove the mixing tube by removing the four nut bolts of burner mounting flange on flare
stack.
 Check the orifices get choked or not, if it get choked clean it properly.
 Clean the pilot burner orifice & pilot flame arrestor if required.
 Clean the carbon deposit on the electrode tip, or the electrode tip / ceramic body found
worm out change the electrodes by new one.
 Finally after completion of the maintenance and cleaning fit all the parts in reverse
direction.

 Open the middle flange bolts.

 Split the assembled casing.
 Pull out the element and clean it by applying air pressure /water press jet in opposite
direction of dirt deposition.
 After the cleaning put the coil inside the casing and use one new gasket
 Make the flame arrestor assembly and tight the flange with new bolts
BAFFLE PLATE CLEANING
 Open the side cover plate for baffle plate.
 Pull out the baffle assemble and clean it by applying high pressure water.
 Fit in reverse direction.
AUTO DRAIN VALVE CLEANING.
 Open the bottom flange where the auto drain valve mounted.
 Pull out the auto drain assembly.
 Check the float ball and valve assembly for dirt deposit.
 Clean the valve seat and unit properly in fresh water.
