COT Demo 2

This document contains the daily lesson plan for a Grade 8 math class. The lesson focuses on teaching students about key concepts in probability such as experiments, outcomes, sample spaces, and events. Students will perform sample experiments like coin flipping and dice rolling to identify possible outcomes and the sample space. They will also practice determining the sample space, outcomes, and events for given experiments. The lesson aims to help students understand and illustrate these probability concepts and apply them to real-world situations.

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or Activity #1: Time to Pair
presenting the new lesson Given the illustration below make possible combinations you can get.

Guide Questions:
1. How many shirts are there?
2. How many pairs of shorts are there?
3. How many pants are there?
4. How many different outfits can you choose?
(The answers to the guide questions given above are examples of outcomes and
event.)
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson Perform the activities below and list all the possible results.
1. Flipping/Tossing a coin.
2. Rolling a die

Guide Questions:
1. What do you call the activities you have performed?
2. When you flipped a coin, what comes out?
3. How about rolling a de?
4. What do you call those results from flipping a coin and tossing a die?
C. Presenting examples/ The teacher wil now discuss further the definitions of experiment, outcome,
instances of the new lesson sample space and event and let the students answers the guide questions of the
activity 2.
D. Discussing new concepts and Activity #3: Let’s Determine
practicing new skill
Determine the possible outcome, sample space and event for each experiment.
Complete the table below.

EXPERIMENT OUTCOME SAMPLE SPACE EVENT

1. Drawing a diamond card from a deck of cards.

2. Tossing a single coin and rolling a die.
3. Getting consonant letters from the alphabet.
E. Developing Mastery Activity #4:
List the Sample Space for the following experiment.
1. Getting an even number in a single roll of die.
2. Picking odd number balls from a box with 15 balls numbered 1-15.
F. Finding practical applications of
concepts and skills in daily living Where can we apply the concept of these terms in our daily lives?

G. Making generalizations and How do we illustrate experiment, an outcome, a sample space and an event?
abstractions about the lesson
H. Evaluating Learning Determine the possible outcomes, sample space and an event of the following
experiments.
1. Flipping three coins simultaneously and getting at least two heads.
2. Drawing a black even card from a deck of cards.
I. Assignment/Agreement Determine the possible outcomes, sample space and an event of the following
experiments.
