ASSIGNMENT TASKS
In forming a group, there is a need to ensure that there is mixing and interspersing of students
from different academic disciplines, specialisations and programmes in each group. Once
formed, the groups are expected tom identify a particular environmental (or sustainability)
issue affecting their immediate surroundings, be it within the campus or the broader
town/community. The group may then elect to draw attention to the issue, device innovative
practical ways to tackle or mitigate it and introduce inexpensive interventions that will help
residents to better deal with the issue.
Each group will tackle One issue only and NO two groups will address the same issue in an
identical manner and approach. Group Mini Projects could cover issues ranging from cleanup
campaigns, awareness raising campaigns, community education campaigns, advocacy or
devising a simple solution to an identified environmental problem.
In addition to presenting your project in class or online (via BigBlue Button, Teams or Zoom),
you are also required to submit a written report detailing your project covering:
An introduction on the problem or issue tackled
Aim and objectives of your project
Activities you undertook/carried out
Impact of your intervention (change brought about or lack thereof)
Discussion of positives aspects worthy replicating elsewhere, challenges and room for
improvement as well as avenues for scaling up
Conclusion
[100 marks]
Note: There are no right or wrong answers, you will be judged on your innovative
thinking about the issues and depth of analyses or arguments.
