Financial Data Quality Differentiated
Financial data quality management is a business issue, and
is defined as the practice by which companies can effectively
and consistently combine the following four factors:
• Financial data collection and transformation
• Repeatable financial processes
• Internal controls
• Audit trails
Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management helps finance users increase their
confidence in the numbers and lowers their cost of compliance by eliminating data
integrity risks associated with collecting, mapping, validating, and moving critical
financial data from across the enterprise.

Customer Challenges
• Errors in financial data collection
• Financial restatements
• Inconsistent account structure
• Dozens of source systems
• No audit trails back to the GL/Source data
• Weak controls around data collection
• Lack visibility and transparent processes

Hyperion FDM Release 11.1.1
Oracle EBS 11i GL
Oracle’s Hyperion Financial Data
Quality Management Benefits
• Confidence in the numbers – Hyperion FDM provides robust audit
trails from source systems to target with robust validation
capabilities, providing transparency into the numbers
• Decrease cost of compliance – Hyperion FDM with its internal
control checks over the process ensure adherence to company
policies and procedures, enhancing controls while lowering costs
• Speed and agility – Improve the EPM cycle by days with a Finance
owned and maintained application that is quick to implement and
supports a simple, easy to follow, repeatable process
FDM Demonstration
Imports from Any Source
End users “Import” their source
financial data (from files, DB’s or
Oracle EBS) into FDM eliminating all
manual changes ensuring complete
accuracy.
Smart Dimensional Mapping
Invalid Dimension Map Problems are identified
for easy correction. FDM allows for simple or
complex cross-dimensional and conditional
mapping of data.
User Driven Data Validation Rules
End users are given feedback on the
quality, accuracy, and completeness
of the data that they loaded to HFM,
so they are accountable, and can
participate in the data integrity
management process. Additional
adjustment data may be loaded via
flat or Excel files.
Traceable from “Source to Report”
Audit trail includes the ability to drill
back from HFM accounts to source
data, whether the data is contained
within a file or DB/EBS.
Traceable from “Source to Report”
Users can “drill down” into GL detail
for a single location and intersection.
The Open Source System Link will be
visible when sourcing data from EBS.
Source data will also be available via
a snapshot file.
Traceable from “Source to Report”
EBS landing page is shown with same
context as drill-back page, the
account balance detail is available
from the EBS landing page.
FDM Reports
The Intersection drill-down report allows
for a view of all current source to target
maps for all dimensions in one view, with
values. The report is available in PDF,
Word, Excel, HTML and RTF formats by
default.
Visibility Through Dashboards
The Close and Controls
documentation status report provides
further visibility into the process. See
quickly who has loaded data into HFM
& who has reviewed and then
submitted their attestation.
Supports Sarbanes Oxley Certifications
and Assessment Requirements
Sarbanes Oxley control questionnaires
allow end users to attest to the validity of
financial data.
Business process areas are grouped into
sections and questions can be tied to
activities for monitoring and testing. Built
in workflow allows for promotion of
responses to the next review level.
These questions apply to Section 302
Review Certification, as well as monitoring
the 404 control framework.
