Introduction
You are now with your mentor in NSTP, ready enough to explore the different areas of
this program for you to be keenly aware on the importance of this course. Well, before we
proceed to the respective main lessons of this course, let us have a short glance on the nature
of National Service Training Program (NSTP).

This program came into existence when Republic Act 9163 was promulgated to put in
place all tertiary level students to have the choice to join other areas of the prerequisite
graduation program aside from Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). To mention, other
branches of the program are: Literacy Training Service (LTS) and Civic Welfare Training
Service (CWTS).

In addition, National Service Training Program was preferably from ordinary

cadets/cadettes. And the sad portion was when a certain cadet who exposed such illegal
activities was murdered in order to silence him.

It is a mandate to all baccalaureate students to take NSTP as a requirement for graduation
as incurred in RA 9163 with their choice from the three components namely: ROTC, LTS and
CWTS.Furthermore; The BTVTED students will adopt a community to cater out of school
youth and materialize/ implement Literacy Training Services (LTS).
Bulacan Polytechnic College goes for the NSTP program to accelerate and generate
impact activities that will not only benefit exclusively for the school; likewise, to the larger
communities. Although the program is an academic entity, it is also designed to collaborate
with the Research and Extension Service of the school that caters services to the adopted
depressed communities.

The Mission, Vision and Objectives of NSTP

The program is a potent tool for an effective and

desirable breakthrough in making the curricular program
of the school to be affirmed valid and productive in the
sphere of community services. To make distinctly the
said program anchored on a solid foundation, NSTP has
the following: mission, vision and objectives.
To empower a civic welfare service that is honed in
strengthening the values and traits of the younger
generations, develop social entrepreneurs and
volunteers who are, socially and economically oriented,
provide workable communities that are value-oriented
and prime-movers for progress and development as
partners in building a network of organizations that is
within the bounds of the higher educational institution.
In simple and logical interpretation, the mission
is to provide the youths the initiatives in using
themselves as instruments, through active
participation and volunteerism, in making the
community a much better one. For example, a group of
students under one cluster will volunteer themselves to
serve in a certain barangay doing cleanliness and
beautification.

Revive and enhance the younger generations’ psychological, social, physical energy to become
highly nationalistic with pride that is within
the premise of true values of being Filipinos
who are morally straight, physically strong
and mentally awake and to become effective
organism of the National Service Corps of
the Civic Welfare Training.
In short, the vision of the NSTP is to see the
youths of our land to be effectively
nationalistic because of their love for our
country, and having the sense of moral
values that is traditionally and culturally a
Filipino way of living.

Example for this is the sense of

Bayanihan, strong respect to the elders.

Objectives:
a) Edify and provide protection to the youths’ mental, spiritual and moral aspects,
and physical being;

Example: training them to be good professionals in the future.

b) Make the youth a true-blooded Filipino through nationalism and patriotism;

Example: to become soldiers of our country

c) Turn them into active participants in public and civic affairs;
Example: to participate as rescue volunteers during calamities

d) Give them the opportunity to be the prime role-players for community change
and
Example: SK officials

e) Draft and impose doable projects and activities that are solutions to the
identified needs of the society.
