Date: 7-3-2023
Time limit: 40 minutes
Self -Care and Forgiveness
Rationale: The purpose of this group session was to develop a communicative and healthy

environment between the therapist and members of the group. To build up confidence and

self-grooming in group members so that they actively participate and interact with their

environment.

Objectives: The major goal of this group session was to generate awareness and enable them

to share their ideas about self-care so that they feel themselves beneficial and normal

individual. And provide an opportunity to reflect on their inner self by open discussion on the

topic of forgiveness.

No of Group members: 17

Group Leader: Mrs. Tabinda (Clinical Psychologist)

Activities: Group was consisted of an open discussion about the self-care and forgiveness.

The group leader started from greetings one by one with all group members. For normalizing

them the clinical psychologist talked about their daily routine and asked them about their

physical and mental concerns. Then she started conversation about the topic of self-care and

asked from members, how could we take care of our skin. One by one all the group members

share their ideas and experiences about the beauty of skin. They revealed numerous home

remedies and skin care products for healthy and glowing skin. After sharing her ideas or tips

about skin beauty the members got social reinforcement in the form of clapping and tangible

tokens. Then the clinical psychologist moved forward on the second topic of Forgiveness, and

asked them, who among you is quick to apologies and forgive others? And should we forgive

others? The group member fully participated and showing interest in this topic by answering

one by one. Some of them were enthusiastically shared their opinions and some of them were

sitting quietly but contributing bit. At the end of the group session the group leader gave them

tangible tokens that were changeable to money as reinforcers.

Outcome: some of the members which were lazy and feeling dizziness from the start of the

group session become happy and excited at the end of the session by gaining her reward.

They actively participated in the whole group session and enjoy it very well.

Performance: All group members contributed with great enthusiasm. The performance of

the group members was satisfactory as they all were very energetic and motivated.

Strengths

 Clinical psychologist tried her best to engage all the members in the conversation.

 Focus of the session was the importance of their lives so that they could move on to

their home.

 Psychologist was speaking very politely and showed concern for all the members.

 It was a very helpful and purposeful session so that they could not felt them

unsupportive and lonely.

Limitations

 In some places, psychologist was putting too much force on religiosity with knowing

their preferences due to which members were not showing interest.

 The way of dealing with members was quite humorous and non-professional.

Recommendations

 The clinical psychologists should treat the members with respect and dignity.

 There should be equal respect for people’s choices rather than exposing them in front

of all members and trainees.
