ManageEngine Endpoint Central 11 Setup and Installation

Getting Started
ManageEngine Agent is a useful tool for IT administrators who need to monitor
and manage multiple systems in their organization. It provides real-time visibility into system
performance. The agent is a lightweight software component that needs to be installed on each
device that you want to monitor and manage with Desktop Central.

STEP 1:
Open Chrome and type in the URL endpointcentral.manageengine.in and can be downloaded from
the Desktop Central web console.

After logging go to Agent, click on Download Agent.

The ManageEngine agent is available for various operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and
Linux.

STEP 2:
Click on Download Agent or you can download through below link.
STEP 3:

Once installed, restart your PC and the agent will communicate with the Desktop Central server and
provide information on the device’s hardware and software inventory, status, and other relevant
data. The agent also enables Desktop Central to perform various management task such as software
deployment, patch management, remote control, and more.

STEP 5:
Now open Chrome go to https://endpointcentral.manageengine.in/
Go to Admin Scope of Management
STEP 6:
On left Pane, Click on Computers Waiting for approvals

STEP 7:
Here you can see the Device is pending for approval
Select the Device and click on Approve, then click OK.
STEP 8:
Go to Managed Computers Tab.
Here you have to install Agent by selecting the device
Select the device and click Install Agent

STEP 9:
Here you can see the agent is successfully installed.
Tabbed Pane
Tabs provide easier navigation between various modules/features. Each tab represent a specific
module/feature. The content of the left pane varies depending on the tab selected. The following are the
tabs present in the product:

• Home: The home tab provides a quick summary of the configurations defined in the form of
charts. Apart from the configuration summary, it also provides inventory summary and the
health/patch status of the network.
• Configuration: The configuration tab provides the core functions of the product. It has links
to define configurations and collections and view the defined configurations based on the
type and status.
• Patch Management: This provide the details of the available and missing patch details along
with options to install them.
• Software Deployment: Provides options to create MSI and EXE package repository, which
can then be used to deploy software to the windows machines in the network.
• Inventory: Provides the details of the software and hardware inventory of the network. It
allows you to manage software licenses and prohibited software.
• Tools: The Tools tab provides ability to share a remote desktop and control it through a Web
browser. You can also schedule a task to run various system tools like Disk Defrag, Check
Disk, and Disk Clean up on different machines in the network.
• Reports: The reports tab provides a comprehensive report of the defined configurations
based on users, computers and type. It also provides ready-made reports of the Active
Directory components.
• Admin: The admin tab helps you to customize the product to your environment. It helps you
to define the scope of management, manage inactive users in your domain, manage
MSI/EXE files and scripts, apart from other personalization options.
• Support: The support tab helps you to reach us for your needs, such as getting technical
support, requesting new features, participating in user discussions, and so on. It also
provides self-diagnostic details about the product.

Quick Links:
Quick links enables you to navigate to the frequently used pages instantly.

Left Pane:
The navigation links in left pane enables navigation across the various features in the tab. The
left-side navigation links changes dynamically according to the tab selected.

Content Pane:
The content pane displays the specific view of the currently selected item from the tabbed pane,
quick links or the left pane.

About ManageEngine Agent


ManageEngine Agent is installed on the systems that need to be monitored, and it communicates
with the central server to provide real-time data on the health and performance of the system. The
agent collects data such as CPU usage, memory usage, disk usage, network traffic, and other system
statistics.
In addition to monitoring system performance, ManageEngine Agent can also be used to deploy
software updates, patches and security fixes to the monitored systems. This helps ensure that
systems are always up-to-date and secure.
ManageEngine Patch Management is a software solution that helps organizations automate the
process of patching their operating systems, applications and other software to keep them secure
and up-to-date.

Patch Deployment
This solution automates the deployment of patches to endpoints across the network, including
computers, servers and laptops.

Here are the steps to create Automated Patch Deployment (APD)

Navigate to Patch Mgmt → Deployment → Automate Patch Deployment. This will display all the
tasks that are created.

Click Automate Task to create a new task for Windows/Mac/Linux and name your task.
Configure required details for the following steps:
• Select Applications: The type of OS and third-party apps to patch

Click next

• Choose Deployment Settings – Configure how and when to deploy the patches based on
your enterprise’s patching requirements

Click Select Policy Dropdown menu and scroll down to select Auto Deployment Policy
Click Next.
Select Default Remote Office and click next.

In Configure Notifications don’t make any changes and click save


The task we created has now been deployed, as you can see

Double click on MyTask10 for Detail View

Each colour represents a different status

Patching Completed
Patching Failed
Patching InProgress
Patching Missing

You can export the data by clicking the Export button on the right centre of the screen
