My Takeaways To The Discussion Yesterday Are That Classroom Management Is Crucial and Challenging For Every Teacher

The document discusses classroom management strategies. It states that setting clear rules and consequences is important to guide students and create a safe learning environment. The teacher wants to show respect to students to build trust and motivate them to learn. While it is important for students to have a voice, the teacher is responsible for setting expectations and controlling students who misbehave. Consequences like removing privileges or adding written assignments can modify poor behavior over time. My takeaways to the discussion yesterday are that classroom

management is crucial and challenging for every teacher. For me

before imposing discipline to my pupils, I need to discipline first myself,
build self-confidence, to believe in myself and to set my mind on what,
how you bring your class to a successful learning environment.
During first day of school, I introduced first the rules inside the
classroom and the consequences if somebody disobey the rules why I
set first the rules because I believe that pupils need to be controlled
and disciplined, pupils at this age need to be guided in the right path.
They are capable of self-discipline but need to be shown what the rules
of the classroom are and what is the expectation of the teacher. I
believe that students are basically good but that the environment
around them influences them tremendously. That is why we need to set
first our norms and regulations inside our classroom for them to be
guided and to behave appropriately. Setting rules and regulations is not
only imposing law but also, they can feel that they are in a safe,
nurturing and supporting environment where they can learn.
Second, respecting one another will be an expectation in my
classroom and there will be no tolerance for being disrespectful. I view
my pupils as equals because I respect them. if I show respect to them
they will do the same way. They will learn better and listen if I
demonstrate that I care for their best interest in learning. I do not
believe that establishing a democratic classroom and giving students
responsibility is letting them take over the classroom because students
will have their own opinion, they are all unique individuals who not only
learn differently but have a different way of thinking and allowing them
to have a say in their own learning is not letting them control the
classroom. It is the teacher’s responsibility to set rules and
expectations in the classroom and control pupils who are doing bad
things. According to our speaker yesterday, we need to impose
consequences and need to be firm. For example, by taking away their
free time because they were very talkative on that day in class. Another
consequence is that I take away fun activities or let the pupils write a
promissory note in a piece of paper. Through this, it shown a positive
impact on their behavior in future classes Through imposing this kind of
consequences pupils will learn by example and this will modify their
behavior. Positive and negative consequences will vary behavior but
creating an intervention plan with pupils not following the rules will help
them understand and slowly monitor the progress. The ultimate goal of
my classroom management is not to manage control of the class but to
ensure that everyone meets my expectations because I am the boss
inside the classroom and in order for them to learn in an effective and
supportive environment and to teach pupils self-discipline and to
understand the rules and consequences of my classroom.
