Packaging Setup V2 PDF

1. The document describes the three setups necessary in FCS to define packaging: (1) create packaging material types using transaction MM01, (2) create packaging instructions using transaction POP1, and (3) assign packaging determinations using transaction POF1. 2. Packaging material types include returnable ('PACR'), regular ('PACK'), and non-stock ('PACN') packaging. Packaging instructions define the content and quantity of each packaging level (e.g. box within a pallet). 3. Packaging determinations specify how packaging is used for receiving ('RCPT'), stocking/production ('STOC'), and shipping ('SHIP') and generate labels or billing information.

Packaging in FCS
FCM and FIS have a list of
standard packaging #s.
FCS Packaging setup All BG will soon restrict the
 3 setups necessary: creation access rights.

 Create a material in FCS for each packaging element (box, pallet, etc.) – MM01 transaction
 Select the level of control needed (stock and/or value tracking or not, at Faurecia only or at external locations also, etc.)
 Fill Gross weight, Volume, Unit data (and Dimensions if usingTEO)

 Create all necessary Packaging instructions for BOP / RM / WIP / FG – POP1 transaction
 1 packaging instruction is necessary:
o per level (Packing unit Packaging instruction, Handling unit Packaging instruction)
o per BOP / RM / WIP / FG when labels, tracking, etc. is needed

 Assign to each Packaging instruction a Packaging determination – POF1 transaction

 Target = Inform FCS of the use of the Packaging instruction (for Receiving, Repacking, Production declaration or
shipping)

Packaging in FCS

Create a material in FCS for each packaging element – MM01

 Creating Packaging material types allow to:
 Generate labels at Receiving, Repacking or Production,
 Produce BL with packaging data and send information to Rental companies (CHEP, GEF BOX, etc.),
MM01 FCS transaction
 Inform Supplier / Customer via EDI about number of packagings sent
/ received, Customer part numbers, etc.

 Packaging material types available:

 ‘PACR’ (Returnable packaging): stock and value tracking at Faurecia,
Supplier & Customer,
 ‘PACK’ (Packaging): stock and value tracking at Faurecia
 ‘PACN’ (Non-stock packaging): no stock nor value tracking
= ‘PACN’
 Case of shipped non-returnable packaging: = ‘PACK’
 Cardboard, plastic bags, etc. part of the Standard cost of the product:
Create these elements as ‘COMP’ (like a BOP/RM) in FCS (MM01) - not ‘PAC*’
= ‘COMP’
and add it to the BOM of the product. This will allow to consume it automatically (BOM) = ‘PACR’
when the product is made and order it through MRP (COMP).
Create Packaging instructions and determination to print labels, BL, etc. if needed.
 Cardboard, plastic bags, etc. NOT part of the Standard cost of the product: also ask

Controlling to flag it in the BOM as non costing relevancy.

Packaging in FCS

Create Packaging instructions – POP1 (1/2)

 To avoid confusion with SAP keywords we use the French acronyms to talk about the multi-level packing
 U.C. (Unité de Conditionnement) - Box which contains Parts

= P.U. (Packing Unit)

 U.M. (Unité de Manutention) - Pallet which contains Boxes

= H.U. (Handling Unit) (Not SAP sense)

 U.M.S. (Unité de Manutention Simplifiée) - Container which contains Parts

= Simplified U.M.

 Auxiliary Packaging (cover, straps, etc.)

= Additional Packing material linked to U.M.
(automatically added when a U.M. is added to the Outbound Delivery)

Packaging in FCS

Create Packaging instructions – POP1 (2/2)

 First: Check on ZAWA transaction if another plant has created a Packaging
instruction for the same material than your plant.
If so, select a different code.

 Packaging instructions are created by level:

 In the case of U.M. (pallet which contains boxes):

 1st Packaging instruction to be created will link a box (packaging material #),
potentially other auxiliary packagings (packaging material #), a part # and a quantity
of parts.

 2nd Packaging instruction to be created will link the 1st instruction with a pallet
(packaging material #), potentially other auxiliary packagings (packaging material #)
and a quantity of boxes.

 In the case of U.M.S. (container which contains parts): 1 level only

 Only Packaging instruction to be created will link a container (packaging material #),
potentially other auxiliary packagings (packaging material #), a part # and a quantity
of parts.

Packaging in FCS

Create Packaging determination – POF1

 Packaging determination options

 ‘RCPT’ – to generate labels at Receiving, to increment / decrement packaging stock if they are set up as
PACR or PACK, to calculate the number of packagings, weight and volume on LISA documents, etc.

 ‘STOC’ – to generate labels at Repacking and Production declaration, to increment / decrement / transfer
packaging stock if they are set up as PACR or PACK, etc.

 ‘SHIP’ – to generate labels before Shipping, to produce BL and ASN with packaging information, etc.

Exercise

 Create the Packaging instructions (POP1) and determinations (POF1) for these 2 examples of packaging
and usage (Packaging material #s and part #s are already existing – MM01)

On LISA documents (Manifest, Pick-up report, etc.) volumetry is calculated as follows:
LISA calculation Weight: Weight of the Parts # (ME33L) + Weight of the UCs + Weight of the UMs (MM03).
Volume: Volume of the Parts (ME33L) + Volume of the UCs + Volume of the UMs (MM03)

Weight for Part #

Volume for Part #: ONLY
ENTER VOLUME IF THE
PART IS STORED ON
TOP OF THE
PACKAGING (not inside)
- ME33L transaction
(scheduling agreement)

Ex: Plastic box (UC)

Weight & volume for Packaging #s
34,656
- MM03 transaction (Master data)
6,048

Ex: Wooden pallet (UM)

0,096

41

0,072
