Detailed course content

A student who has successfully completed this course would have acquired the following skills:
1. Understand the concepts of scales and proportions, lines in space and true length and shape.
2. Understand and apply the drawing standards for international graphic communication.
3. Competently use CAD to generate and understand:
• orthographic detailed drawings
• pictorial views with an emphasis on isometric views
• sectioned and auxiliary views of engineering components
4. Generate free hand sketches of orthographic and pictorial projections of engineering components.
5. Interpret the information on an orthographic detailed working drawing.
6. Use 3D computer aided drawing software as a tool to
• Generate working drawings from a 3D solid model.
• Generate assembly models with detailed drawings.

A Discipline Specific Drawing Module is included in this course.

This module is structured to expose the students to drawings and applications relevant to their particular
engineering discipline. The emphasis is on PCB Design.
