How to Prepare for CET 2023

 Studying last year’s types of questions will help to prepare for CET.

 CET 2020 exam was conducted in four slots

 CET 2020 all slots they had maintained similar difficulty level. In
fact similar types of questions with similar weightage for most of
the topics.

 CET 2021 and CET 2022 each was conducted in 5 slots.

 Difficulty Level of each slot was more or less the same. But as

distribution of questions across areas was not constant, students

found it Easy /Difficult based their preparation Level

Logical Reasoning Observations (Old pattern)

 Analytical Puzzles had highest weightage. Almost

50% weightage. Most of the sets had 6 questions

 In Analytical Puzzles maximum questions were

asked on Linear arrangement and Distribution.

 There were few sets where Linear Arrangement and

Distribution questions were asked in combination

with quant based reasoning
Logical Reasoning Observations (Old pattern)

 Deductions : Around 5-7 questions are asked every year.

So it becomes an important topic which can be solved
easily.

 Input and Output : Around 5-7 questions are asked every

year. Though logic in each case is different, format of the
questions is same for CET 2016 to CET 2020 (Except
couple of slots). One input will be given and all questions
will asked on the basis of that input.

 Verbal reasoning and Critical Reasoning questions were

asked for around 10 marks. As these can be done quickly,
they become important.
Logical Reasoning Observations (CET 2022)

 Questions based Analytical Puzzles varied in number.

Highest being 5 questions and lowest as 5 questions

 Level of difficulty of analytical puzzles questions varied

in each slot.

 Questions based on reasoning based data sufficiency

and Logical Inequalities were missing.

 In few slots there were no questions from the area

Verbal /critical reasoning and Input – Output

Logical Reasoning Observations (CET 2022)

 Under Miscellaneous questions, few new types of

questions were asked. But they were doable.

 Sudden rise in Series (Number/Letter) questions.

 In slot 1 - Students reported that on the same data

there were multiple questions but, they were scattered.

eg. Question numbers based on the same data of linear
arrangement were 2, 29, 87, 138 and, 163. There were
9 such sets in the analytical reasoning area for which
questions were scattered across the paper.
Logical Reasoning Observations (CET 2022)

 Verbal Reasoning questions were of moderate difficulty

level. But as they were scattered, some found them as a

speed breaker.

Total 25 25 25
Abstract Reasoning Observations (Old Pattern)

• Series : Most of the questions are asked on the 5 figure

series to find the next pair. Missing Fig. questions have

also been asked in the previous years.

• Analogy : In CET 2020 similar pair questions were also

asked along with other types of questions.

Abstract Reasoning Observations (Old Pattern)

• Seven Fig. Series and Odd fig out – Not asked in many

years

• Series Interchanged never asked though it was

mentioned as type of question in CET brochure.

• This section has been the easiest amongst all the

sections. Students can manage around 17 to 18

questions in 20 minutes.

Total 25 20 11 10 25
Abstract Reasoning Observations (CET 2021)

• This was most surprising area, as there were many new

types of questions were introduced.

• Also these questions were individual questions

distributed across the paper. So that created more
panic.

• Ideal strategy would have been attempt the familiar

types and leave new types of questions. That could have
compensated with easy questions from Quant /
Reasoning area.

Total 25 13 25
Abstract Reasoning Observations (CET 2022)

• This was not as surprising as CET 2021.

• Slot 1 didn’t have any new types of questions.

• Other slots had very few new types of questions like

➢ Nine figures in a 3 * 3 grid. Identify the next figure.
➢ Nine figures in a 3 * 3 grid. Form 3 groups, each having 3 logically
related figures.
➢ Dots placed in a figure and identify a figure where dots could be
placed in a similar way.

• Ideal strategy would have been attempt the familiar types and

leave new types of questions. That could have compensated

with easy questions from Quant / Reasoning area.

 Most of the questions asked were from Arithmetic Area

 Hence, RPV, Percentages, Time and Work, Time and Distance,

AMA are the most important chapters.

 1 Question was asked on Mensuration in each slot and no

Question on Geometry. Same was the case in CET 2018.

 Quantitative Comparison : Since 2006 Quantitative

comparison questions are asked based on Quadratic
Equations, Simple Equations, Indices and Quant topics like
TW, TD, AMA, PPL, SI/CI etc.
Quantitative Ability Observations (Old Pattern)

Quantitative Ability Observations (Old Pattern)

 Number Series : Looking at Previous Years’ papers, most

of the times questions asked were Find next term in the

series or Find missing term in the series. In few slots
‘Find wrong term form the series’ types of questions were
asked.

 Out of 6 questions, in two questions one will find series

starts with a small number but ends at four or five digit

number
Data Interpretation Observations (Old Pattern)

 This section had easy- moderate category of questions

 The graphs were easy to interpret.

 Wherever the Data was difficult to interpret, Questions

asked were Easy. Simple looking Graphs had Tricky and
Calculation Intensive Questions.

 In Each slot one caselet was asked.

 One set was based on C.P and Mark up percentages. It

required knowledge of profit and loss basics.

 Most of the questions from this area were easy. For

many questions one doesn’t need to put the pen on the
paper to solve the questions

 Maximum questions were asked from the arithmetic

area.

 Only in slot 3 there were large number of questions from

the NUMBERS topics were asked

 Slot 3 - there were considerable number of questions

from the topic Permutations and Combinations.
Data Interpretation Observations (CET 2022)

 Level of difficulty easy

 Simple data was given and based on that calculation

based questions were asked

 Most of the sets were copied from different websites.

How to prepare
How to Prepare for CET 2023

 CET 2020 : 1,10,631 students appeared.

 Only 4320 students scored more than 100 marks.

 Every year most of the students complain that paper

was lengthy

 To crack CET along with subject knowledge, speed is

also very important. Even if you decided to attempt 150
