Data Request Letter

A student is requesting meteorological data from the National Centre for Hydrology and Meteorology for their final year research project on flood vulnerability assessment in the Shetikharichhu Watershed Area. Specifically, the student is requesting daily average maximum and minimum temperature data and daily average maximum rainfall data from 2010-2020 for Gelephu Gewog. This data is needed to produce a precipitation map, calculate climate variability indicators, and validate findings for the research project.

Subject: Request for Meteorological Data for College Research Purpose

Respected Admin,

I am currently working on my final year research project, which is on flood vulnerability

assessment of the Shetikharichhu Watershed Area using GIS-based multi-criteria analysis and
livelihood vulnerability index for my research project. The study will assess flood hazards using
different conditioning factors and parameters. Rainfall data is one of the crucial parameters in
producing a precipitation map for analysis. Moreover, the study aims to determine livelihood
vulnerability by assessing components of climate variability. It includes calculating the mean
standard deviation of the daily average maximum and minimum temperature, and daily average
maximum precipitation.

Therefore, I request the respected Admin/Agency to kindly provide me the daily average
maximum and minimum temperature data and daily average maximum rainfall data of the
Gelephu Gewog, ideally from 2010 –2020. This will be of great help to validate my findings and
improve the accuracy of the analysis. I will respect and abide by the terms and conditions set by
the agency while handling and processing the data.

Sincerely,
Rohan Biswa
