Drafting a pattern for Ladies Skirt

Tools and materials needed in drafting a Ladies Skirt

1. Pattern paper
2. Tape measure
3. Pencil and paper

Body measurements needed in drafting Ladies Skirt

1. Waist
2. First Hip/Hip 1
3. Second Hip/Hip 2
4. Apex distance/Bust distance
5. Length

Procedure:

1. Draw a vertical and horizontal line in the right side of the pattern paper.
2. Mark point A, where line intersect
3. From point A down, measure 3”, mark point B.
4. From point A down, measure 7”, mark point C.
5. From point A down, length of the skirt, mark point D.
6. Extend all the lines to the right side and label all the lines
 Waist = for the 1st line
 Hip 1 = for the 2nd line
 Hip 2 = for the 3rd line
 Hemline = for the 4th line
7. From point A to the right side ¼ of the waist measurement + 1 ½ for darts, mark point E1, and E2
for the darts.
8. From point B to the right side ¼ of the Hip1, mark point F.
9. From point C to the right side ¼ of the Hip 2, mark point G
10. From point D to the right side, same measurement of point G, just square down, mark point H.
11. Connect point E2, point F, point G and point H with a hip curve.
12. From point H, measure ½ upward. Mark point H2.
13. Connect point H2 and point D with a Hip curve
14. From point A down, measure ½”.Mark point A2.
15. Connect point E2 and point A2.
For the DARTS

1. From point A, measure ½ of the Apex distance or bust distance. Mark point I.
2. From point I down, measure 5” .Mark point J.
3. Connect point I and point J with a ruler.
4. To form a darts, just measure ¾ “ to the left ,mark point L. Then ¾ “ to the right ,mark point K.
5. Connect point L and point J. Then also connect point K and point J, using a ruler.

For the WAISTBAND

Measurements needed
 Waist = Ex. 26 divided by 2 =13 plus 2
 Width = 3”

Procedure in drafting the WAISTBAND

1. Draw a vertical and a horizontal line .Mark point A where line intersect.
2. From point A down, measure 3” for the width of the waistband .Mark point B.
3. Extend all the lines.
4. From point A to the right side ½ “ of the waist measurement plus 2”.Mark point C.
5. Square down .Mark point D.
