RC500 offers the flexibility to choose the appropriate RTU model according to specific
application needs. The RTU variants are available based on the following features.
• Number of communication ports
• Memory
• System topology
• Protocol
• Type of input or output modules
The RC500 RTUs have the power of embedded Linux platform and are capable of
remote automation and control applications. They are designed to withstand the toughest
environment and consume less power, which makes them suitable to work using solar
power in remote applications.

Ethernet I/O modules

RC500 Ethernet I/O-1/Ethernet I/O-2 and Windows software form a high performance
flexible I/O system. The I/O module is a DIN rail mounted I/O that provides direct field
wiring connections to different types of industry devices. It is connected to each
module’s base and setup choices are entered using the Honeywell RC500 I/O Tool Kit
software.

Honeywell RC500 I/O Tool Kit

The Honeywell RC500 I/O Tool Kit is an easy-to-use software package that is for
designing, configuring and maintaining the RC500 RTUs and Ethernet I/O modules. You
can assign tag names and configure modes of operation for the RC500 modules. The
optional feature sets provide exporting, datalogging, Linux features and other such
functionalities to the system. This software also enables easy configuration of IO
transfers between the RTUs.

ISaGRAF Open
ISAGRAF programming for RC500 provides IEC 61131 standard programming
languages such as, Sequential Function Chart (SFC), Ladder Diagram, Structured Text
(ST), Instruction List (IL), Function Block Diagram, and Flow Charting.
Graphical Programming: ISaGRAF combines ladder logic with powerful function
blocks to provide you the simplicity of a PLC, and the performance of a high-end process
controller.
Text Programming: IEC 61131 statement language uses simple text that is easy to learn
and maintain.

November 2011 Honeywell
1. Introduction to RC500
1.2. RC500 compatibility with Experion

Multi-Tasking Organization: SFC organizes the programs into tasks or sequential steps.
Each SFC block may be a Ladder Diagram, Structured Text or Instruction list.
On-Line Program Changes: This helps to improve processes without waiting for
shutdowns. The ISaGRAF Workbench lets you make changes in program at any time.
Program Simulation: ISaGRAF has a program simulator that displays how your
program works before the actual startup. You can develop and debug your programs
quickly and easily, and then load them to a RC500 programmable node.
Direct RC500 tag references: The tag names from the Honeywell RC500 I/O Tool Kit
configuration appear automatically in ISaGRAF using Export option. These names are
reflected automatically in program logic and save significant programming time.

1.2 RC500 compatibility with Experion

Honeywell RC500 R200 is compatible with the following Experion version.
