Introduction
Physical education in school is a preventive measure to teach students
the value of regular exercise and(Importance of physical education, nd) promotes
a physically active lifestyle. It also helps the students to value self - preservation
and choosing a lifestyle that is good for both the mind and body.
Physical Education is holistic and an integral part of the school curriculum
that aims to develop the physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual aspects
of an individual(Jericel Cabrera, 2017), which are highly interrelated. It’s only in
physical, educational classrooms that students learn the value of taking care of
themselves through proper grooming, healthy eating, and regular exercise. (Why
physical education is important in primary school, nd) An excellent cardiovascular
system developed from regular exercise promotes excellent blood and oxygen
circulation. This means(Jericel Cabrera, 2017) that more nutrients circulate
throughout the body, which includes the brain. This circulation produces longer
attention span during classes allowing more extended concentration and
absorption. (sabaris,2015) Thus, physical health will enable students to function
even better in classrooms. It will also build self-esteem. Students who are active
in physical activities like basketball, volleyball, martial arts, and run, to name a
few, are more confident with themselves according to most social school studies.
It’s probably because of the self - discipline and dedication to excel in a sport that
brings out the best in students. (Why physical education is important in primary
school, nd)
The benefits of being knowledgeable in PE with a proper understanding of
activities will help you become a more flexible and versatile individual, and you
will experience a healthier and happier life. This life is free from stress, burnout,
insecurities, and boredom. (Jericel Cabrera, 2017) An individual may look young,
feel young, and feeling good all the time when he is actively participating in
physical activities.

Physical Education and its Legal Bases

Physical education today has the potential of contributing to the enhancement of

positive lifestyle changes which ultimately lead to a better quality of life. It means that
through physical education, the individual can acquire sufficient knowledge and
understanding, activity skills, and desirable attitudes that will eventually contribute to
his/her well-being. ( JESRT: 8(3), March 2019) Thus, the term refers to an essential
segment of general education that aims to provide to the total development of the
learner through participation in selected vigorous activities. (Grace C. Manuel,
august,2018)

Objectives and Goals of Physical Education

The goal of physical education is to assist the learner in developing and maintain
a healthy lifestyle and to become fit, which is achievable through the acquisition of
knowledge, desirable habits and attitudes, game and dance skills, and wholesome
