Reflective Essay on Responsibility

Student Name:
Student Number:
Class: Level 4
Responsibility is one of our character traits, which signifies that a person can answer for his acts,
assume specific responsibilities, and face the potential repercussions of his actions.

Responsibility can be described as the process by which an individual performs an action and accepts
the resulting consequences. Obviously, a responsibility entails carrying out what is expected of you.
Each stage of a person's life is accompanied by a unique set of duties.

A consequence is the effect or aftermath of an action made by an individual. Considering this there
are two types of consequences: positive and negative. This phenomenon is illustrated by the effect
of arriving early or late to work every day. If you arrive early, you are entitled to praise and
congratulations, as well as bonuses, which are all positive outcomes. However, arriving late to work
daily will result in fines, questions, and the potential loss of employment, all of which can be
considered negative consequences of your conduct. (IMP Center, 2022)

Types of responsibility
This course has improved my ability to be accountable in many ways. Here are my key
takeaways from three module themes.

A. Personal responsibilities
Personal responsibility is taking responsibility for acts, decisions, or ideas. A person feels
responsible when acknowledged and follows behavioural guidelines. Person who realizes
individual responsibility accepts issues and responds intelligently.
Morally accountable people are seen as creators, not victims. Taking responsibility is the
antidote to victimization, nullifying its appeal. Instead, then waiting for luck or other people
to decide, he/she must respond to life's opportunities and difficulties, which allows them to
create trusting relationships.
The module's discussion taught me that my role is to be accountable for my actions and fair
to others. As an undergraduate, I must not cheat on homework and correctly cite internet
resources. I'll be accused of plagiarism otherwise. For every mistake I make, there's a chance
to improve my position, and I'll often encounter opportunities that motivate me.
Personal responsibility includes both social and professional responsibilities. To be morally
responsible, follow the examples below. Examples: Being authentic (not reacting but acting),
Persistence (Irrespective of the hardships, keep going forward) (Irrespective of the
hardships, keep going forward), Self-organized (keep a structured life using whatever ways
work), Impulse control (Spacey, 2016)
B. Corporate Social Responsibilities
Corporate social responsibility, usually known as CSR, is a United States government-
developed concept. This notion dictates that organizations should place people and the
environment at the forefront of their operations while still meeting the demands of
investors and business partners in an environmentally, socially, and ethically responsible
manner.

A approach that is feasible from a financial standpoint (Triple Bottom Line Attainment).
Any obligation or activity of a corporation could be motivated by one of these four
categories for the objective of designing and putting into implementation an effective
strategy for corporate social responsibility (CSR):
i. Obligations Regarding the Existing Economic Climate Among these responsibilities is the
requirement to produce and market the essential commodities and services for the
community.
ii. Responsibilities pertaining to the law Companies must achieve their financial objectives
while complying to the rules established by the legal system.
iii. Responsibilities pertaining to ethics: Businesses should make promoting moral
consumption their primary purpose, in accordance with the basics of business ethics and the
ethical standards for conducting business.
To make the world and society a better place to live, organizations must support
humanitarian causes and actively promote acts of generosity toward others. This falls under
the topic of humanitarian obligations and responsibilities. (Gaur, 2022)
This four-part framework differentiates the numerous obligations that society expects
corporations to do. Only then will CSR planning have a possibility of contributing to a variety
of competitive benefits, such as a better brand image, deal expansion, and customer
satisfaction, all of which result in a healthy consumer flow.

As a direct result, the business gained tremendous success.

Businesses that use child labour, limit, or outlaw labour unions, and conduct animal testing
subscribe to the tenets of the utilitarian ethical framework. This indicates that these
companies care more about the outcomes of their actions than conforming to core ethical
norms. Despite this, taking into consideration the ideas discussed in the module, I believe
that, if I am the owner of a business, I will practice "Prudence morals," also known as "Virtue
ethics," which focuses more on moral standards and approaches green showcasing from the
perspective of an individual's ethical honesty as well as local area responsibility.
The TBL Approach serves as the basis for the P&G Pampers brand. The health and well-being
of children has been the primary priority of this organization. It did this by launching the
Pampers Mobile Clinic Program, which provides free basic health screenings for women,
along with other baby products and health-related conversations. In addition to this,
emphasis has been placed on

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and boosting the usage of renewable energy sources;
the corporation has already reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent since 2010.
It has been focusing on society even when it has been successful in serving the people.

C. Community Responsibilities and Obligations

Community responsibilities are the duties that an individual or organization owes to the
community. These responsibilities entail a degree of self-control, sincerity, respect, and
participation in numerous facets of society.
which result in advantageous results This is of equal importance because it encompasses
both personal and corporate social responsibilities. Individuals and organizations are
deemed socially responsible if they demonstrate ethical behaviour and care for social,
cultural, economic, and environmental issues.
Contributing maximum value to society and the environment requires a strong commitment
to corporate and social governance, open stakeholder interactions, and the commitment to
achieve environmental sustainability while adhering to business ethics and local
neighbourhoods where businesses operate
A person's foremost commitment to the community is to practice ethical consumerism.
Through ethical consumption, the social and environmental repercussions of global trade
are addressed. Therefore,
According to ethical and sustainable business principles, customers and corporations cannot
ignore the consequences of their actions. Corporations must be accountable for their
business operations for consumers to make ethically sound decisions. When consumers
appreciate and rely on ethical and environmentally responsible business activities, they
provide a substantial competitive advantage.
My perspective is that I must adhere to personal responsibility to be a responsible individual who
can run a community-based organization sustainably, because when I have a sense of personal
responsibility, I will operate my business in a way that considers its impact on both the community
and the environment.

environment and people in addition to the business. In addition, I can be responsible for my society
by participating in various campaigns and programs, creating clean and sanitation initiatives with the
help of certain businesses, and engaging community members in various awareness programs
regarding responsible and ethical consumerism, among other things. (Ganti, 2022)

Conclusion
To conclude, we must understand the nature of responsibility, which will help an individual
become more socially conscious and a creator rather than a victim. Moreover, we must
recognize that our obligations in every aspect of life involve not only our personal
responsibilities, but also our social, community, and digital responsibilities.
As an undergraduate, the most important lessons from the module and chapter addressed
have been that to be a successful person, I must have a sense of responsibility in my life and
that to be known as an accountable person, I must follow moral standards and
sustainability.
In addition to the responsibilities, I believe that for a business to be successful, both
individuals and organizations must adhere to community responsibilities, which include
both personal and corporate social responsibilities. Consequently, I believe that communal
obligations are of the utmost importance. Every corporation should join in CSR initiatives,
but they should avoid woke washing and greenwashing in the name of CSR. A company
should adhere to appropriate ethical values and standards. In addition, everyone must
engage in ethical consumption for the environment to remain sustainable. Only then can a
person be considered accountable.
