Conclusion
Objective 1- Outline two (2) factors that cause unemployment in the community of Manley

Meadows

The findings suggest that the two (2) main factors that cause unemployment in the

community of Manley Meadows are Covid 19 pandemic and unavailability of jobs as indicated

in figure 1. The other factors highlighted were high school dropout, poverty, lack of experience,

lack of skills, lack of qualification, overpopulation, unsuitable values and attitude and over

qualification.

Objective 2- Discuss two (2) effects of unemployment on the residents living in Manley

Meadows

The majority of the findings of the respondents stated that low standard of living and criminal

activities has the most impact on residents living in Manley Meadows due to lack of

employment. Other effects include poverty, low self-actualization, gang activities, poor health

condition, scamming, illicit drug activities and lottery sweepstakes.

Objective 3- Find out two (2) measures the government has in place for the unemployed in the

community

Figure 4 suggests that the government needs to provide more jobs and provide on the job training

to reduce unemployment in the community. More implementations include: provide more skill-

based training for school dropouts, build more educational institutions, and provide scholarship

programs for the poor and destitute who need help.

Conclusion

Objective 1 - Identify two factors that influence the increase in petrol prices for taxi drivers for

the period September 2020 to January 2021.

The findings of this research suggest that based on the respondents’, the two most

influencing factors of the increase in petrol prices for taxi drivers are the increasing price of oil

on the international market and the price of foreign exchange based of figure 1.

Objective 2 - Explain at least two factors that negatively impact the taxi drivers due to the high

prices of petrol.

Consequently, due to the high prices of petrol, two factors that unfortunately impact the

taxi drivers on the mentioned route are that they have access to less money to spend on food and

healthcare and they face high financial constraints seen in fig. 2. That is, taxi drivers are

expected to spend more money on petrol, and have less money to take care of their needs, such

as healthcare and food. Taxi drivers are also impacted by high financial constraints, which is

caused by leading factors such as decrease in income, educational expenses and a lack of money

management, which often have a huge impact on the life of the taxi drivers and their families.

Objective 3 - Identify two suggestions to the government to keep gas prices low.

Based on the information collected, two suggestions, which can be made to the

government in order to keep petrol prices low enough for taxi drivers, are to eliminate the Ad

Valorem Tax (GCT) and to implement price controls. The respondents believe that the gas tax
plays a significant role in the petrol prices and by implementing price controls, this could help

stabilize the prices as seen in fig. 3.

It is clear that 90% of the taxi drivers that ply the Arnett Garden to Downtown Kingston

route are highly affected by the high increase of gas prices while 10% of the respondents were

still able to manage for themselves and their families financially without a hassle.

Conclusion

Objective 1: Identify the pricing strategies used by management at Sugar and Spice Ltd for the

period of September 2020 to December 2020.

Our studies, shows that Sugar and Spice Ltd uses cost-plus and competitive pricing

strategies. This was shown by the fact that 100% and 66.7% of consumers, respectively, selected

these price strategies. In addition, the manager stated that cost-plus pricing is the main pricing

strategy they used at the establishment.

Objective 2: To find out which month is the highest demand for cake at Sugar and Spice Ltd.

From the findings, it was highlighted that the month of December report the highest

demand for cakes as seen in fig. 2 which amounted to 53.3% which was also stated by the

manager while the remaining customers which represents 40% and 6.7% respectively purchase

cakes at different intervals.

Objective 3: Assess if the current pricing strategy used at Sugar and Spice Ltd is effective.
From the interview conducted with the manager, the current pricing strategies used are

effective when it comes to making a profit. The prices remain affordable for initiatives such as

cake sales and parties. Many people purchase cakes for resale, which is of benefit to Sugar and

Spice Ltd. This was also evident as majority that is, 60% of the customer stated that the prices
