ASSESSMENTS

Task 1:
1. Discuss awareness campaign, activities, and implementation of programs/projects
of Gender and Development in your:

1.1 Community
Our community is dedicated to treating all of its members fairly. Local
government officials in our Barangay, for example, are made up of both men and
women and serve in a variety of capacities. They place a high value on women's
contributions to their communities. Other initiatives and events that promote female
empowerment include Pageants for Moms, Zumba events for Women, and livelihood
programs. Male basketball leagues and sporting events, on the other hand, are available.
LGBTQA+++ members also play an important role in our community because they are
given the opportunity to work in the Barangay office, where they help to organize
special events and contribute their own innovative ideas.

1.2 School
With a reputation for its student activism, the Polytechnic University of the
Philippines (PUP) is home to many student organizations. And as expected from student
organizations that advocate for man issues, gender and development are one of them
that they advocate. They hold events such as pride marches, pageants, and many more
where the members and other students voice out the issues and raise awareness of
gender and development. The Polytechnic University of the Philippines is well-known for
its innovative approach to gender and development. It offers a variety of programs and
initiatives designed to empower women in a variety of areas. The value of women is
recognized at PUP, and discrimination is not tolerated on our campus. In this time of
epidemic, the PUP NSTP, in partnership with the PUP Sandiwa, sponsored a series of
webinars, including one on Gender and Development, to recognize the contributions of
both men and women to society. This series of webinars is intended to educate both
students and the general public on the importance of never discriminating against
someone based on their gender since every one of us is uniquely designed. In fact, the
PUP supports the recently released memorandum of the Department of Health, which
imposed laws protecting the rights of women, such as Republic Act7877, also known as
the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act, Republic Act 9262, also known as the Anti-violence
Against Women and Children Act, and Republic Act 9710, also known as the Magna
Carta of Women Act. Both within and outside the school grounds, these statutes
safeguard the safety of women. PUP does not only offer high-quality education, but also
a safe environment for students, as well as a place to sharpen and strengthen the
potential of both men and women, according to the university.
1.3 At Home
We practice anti-discrimination in our household when it comes to our respective
duties and obligations. Our family consists of three women and three man, and since
women are the dominant gender in our house, we strive to preserve order and harmony
inside our home. My father never prevents my mom from working, because we think
that in order for us to survive, we must work as one. We choose to ignore the culture of
women, who are seen to be primarily responsible for household work and taking care of
the family. Actually, we each have distinct responsibilities inside the household, which
allows us to get more active in the Gender and Development movement. When my
father is not there, my brother is able to carry weights and big items, as well as mend
things that are broken. Despite the fact that I am a woman, I also fix things and do
carpentry whenever my father and brothers are not around the house. I also serves as my
father's nurse and even does deliveries around the neighborhood to assist my mother in
our little business. As the breadwinner of the family, my father is capable of handling
household tasks and even taking excellent care of my siblings and me when my mother is
not there. And, of course, my mother is as strong as steel since she also puts out effort in
her career and even works many side jobs to supplement the family's income. Overall,
gender and development are clearly visible in our household. We make certain that no
one is left out in the cold. It is our responsibility to ensure that all of the functions and
obligations that have been assigned to us are carried out correctly. Furthermore, we
place a high value on each individual's abilities, we encourage and support one another,
and we make certain that no one ever feels like they are powerless
2. How important is institutionalizing Gender and Development?
Practical advancement depends on finishing separation towards ladies and giving
equivalent freedoms to schooling and business. Sexual orientation uniformity has
convincingly appeared to animate financial development, which is significant, particularly
in nations with higher joblessness rates and less monetary opportunity. UN Women
revealed that in Organization for Economic Co-activity and Development(OECD) part
nations, half of the financial development in the course of recent years is ascribed to
young ladies having better admittance to training. It's additionally because of an
abatement in the hole between the number of long stretches of tutoring those young
ladies get when contrasted with young men. Along these lines, GVI has set up projects
that put an accentuation on training for young lady kids, as a component of long-haul
supportable advancement drives. Sexual orientation equity in the working environment
implies both ensuring ladies have similar freedoms and are paid equivalent to men for
equivalent work. To help address this, our ladies' strengthening projects take a gander at
the proficient turn of events and progressing training. Gender and advancement are
significant on the grounds that it centers around associations among sexual orientation
and improvement drives and women's activists' points of view, and manages issues like
wellbeing and instruction, dynamic and administration, harmony building, brutality
against ladies, and monetary strengthening. Improvement can't be acknowledged
without the exceptionally critical segment of sexual orientation. Nations the world over
have demonstrated that the prohibition of ladies being developed has delivered their
improvement endeavors useless.

3. In the present era where GAD has been given spotlight, what do you think is still lacking
in the implementation or mainstreaming of GAD.

The support system is lacking, and this will cost society, if ever the World Bank
Group's Women, Business, and the Law 2020 bring up, "uniformity of chance is
acceptable financial matters." Indeed, it is assessed that ladies' slacking cooperation in
work and business ventures cost the world around 15% of its GDP. In considering a
"maximum capacity" situation in which ladies took part in the economy indistinguishably
from men, McKinsey presumed that this would add $28 trillion (26 percent) to yearly
worldwide GDP by 2025 when contrasted with the same old thing. In spite of the
additional weights, emergencies present a chance to improve sexual orientation
balance... Sadly, we are probably going to see a few difficulties in sexual orientation
correspondence during the COVID-19 pandemic and its outcome. The European Institute
of Gender Equality has expressed that the conclusion or close conclusion of organizations
could severely affect ladies ruled callings, (for example, airline stewards, beauticians, and
visit administrators), and neglected consideration work will keep on expanding. In
featuring the gendered effect of COVID-19, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for
Human Rights has expressed that, "Directed measures to address the lopsided effect of
the emergency on ladies and young ladies are required." The COVID-19 emergency has
squeezed governments, improvement associations, and networks. While we endeavor
earnestly to react, we ought not to dismiss our objective to accomplish sexual orientation
correspondence. All things being equal, we should put forth a piece of our general
attempt to handle these remarkable difficulties and come out more grounded thereafter.

Task 2
Instructions: From the three focused areas of Gender and Development namely GAD and
Education, GAD and Environment, and GAD and Access to Justice, select one area, create
or come up with an artwork based on your own interpretation and representation.
Provide a short caption or narrative why you have come up with that artwork.
Note: Any medium is allowed. Just make sure to create an artwork that you can attach
in this module for submission purposes
I chose GAD and Access to Justice because I see gender inequality in the justice
system. I created a poster digital artwork to express my thoughts through art because I
don't have any art supplies and it is more convenient for me. On my poster, we can see
that the woman and men are standing on an equal scale in this artwork. This represents
the equality I seek between men and women. In our society, we can see gender - based
discrimination experienced by women and girls in a variety of ways, including insecure
land and tenure rights, lack of access to and control over economic and natural
resources, limited opportunities to participate in environmental decision - making, and
lack of access to markets, capital, training, and technologies.
Not only women, but also men, face gender-based discrimination. For me, there is
a lack of law in terms of sexual harassment in men, which people find amusing because
men are supposed to be strong and not vulnerable in this matter. However, if we truly
want equal rights, we must be cautious and open to every situation. We can also see
color of rainbow, a heart with “PRIDE” in it. They represent the LGBTQ community
because, like men and women, they are human beings who deserve to be treated
equally.
