Project Scenario

The document discusses home automation systems in Sri Lanka. It describes how home automation allows devices to control each other through apps or voice assistants to save manual effort. Benefits include controlling all devices from one location for convenience. The scope of home automation uses sensors in each room connected to a central system to automate tasks. The goal is to improve convenience without disrupting family members by automating lighting, climate control, entertainment, security, and appliances. However, ensuring security of internet-connected devices and user information is challenging and requires extensive research due to risks of information misuse. Communication technologies have increased interest in interconnected home automation systems using standardized, interoperable components without proprietary lock-ins.

Project scenario.

My project is home automation system. The world's perception of household appliances has been
completely altered by home automation. Home automation has recently spread to Sri Lanka. Although
the technology is young, it offers enormous potential for improving the lives of people who are primarily
disabled and for cost-effective energy savings. In order to offer better services at lower costs, we will
explore the current state of home automation in Sri Lanka in this article, as well as the contributing
reasons and issues. At its most basic, home automation consists of a number of components that
interact with our environment, thus we will go into detail about the methodology, costs, issues, and
providers. Devices can trigger one another thanks to smart home automation, saving you from having to
manually operate each one using an app or voice assistant. You could, for instance, set your lights to
turn off at regular intervals to coincide with your customary bedtime, or you could turn on your air
conditioning an hour or so before you leave for work to avoid coming home to a stuffy, stuffy house.

Benefits of home automation

You can control any device in your house from one location. Here, convenience is a major consideration.
A major advancement in technology and home management is that everything can be connected
through a single interface. flexibility for novel appliances and technologies. Smart home systems
typically have a significant degree of flexibility when it comes to accommodating new appliances,
gadgets, and other forms of technology.

Scope of Home Automation

The idea of "Scope of Home Automation" might be seen as an advancement in the realm of automation
technology. This concept is founded on the assumption that individuals prefer to do their tasks inside
their homes rather than worrying about the full facility and its equipment. Sensors put in every room of
the house are used to carry out the majority of duties.

In order for users to carry out the needed duties from their respective houses, Home Automation in
Pune aims to connect these sensors to the central control system and to various gadgets via a network.

Goal of Home Automation

We just moved into a new house, and as a result, we underwent the typical process of decluttering. The
tools, methods, and gadgets we use inside and outside of our homes are one of the main topics that has
been predominating my thoughts.

Home automation is automating your home's control so that it serves your needs. The intention is for
you to improve convenience and ease your life without upsetting other family members. Adopting a
system to regulate lighting, environmental conditions, entertainment systems, security systems, and
home appliances is known as home automation. It may also include elements of home security such as
alarm systems and access control.

Risk of Home Automation

One of the main obstacles to the realization of the goal of smart, energy-efficient houses and buildings
has been recognized as the enforcement of security in Internet of Things environments. Understanding
the hazards associated with the usage and potential misuse of information about houses, partners, and
end users in this environment, as well as formulating strategies for incorporating security-enhancing
measures in the design, is not simple and necessitates extensive research. A risk analysis that was
conducted on a smart home automation system that was created in a research project comprising major
industrial entities.

Communication of Home Automation

The rapid evolution of Internet communication technologies has fueled interest in Home Automation
Systems (HAS) that provide an unprecedented level of connectivity to consumers and professionals in
industrial/commercial sectors. With the widespread adoption of IoT (Internet of Things) technologies,
critical sensing and actuation components are becoming affordable and interconnected. It enables
machine-to-machine (M2M) scenarios and standardized home automation systems, using interoperable
components and non-proprietary with lock-up solutions. As a result, over the past ten years, an
abundance of HAS has been offered in the market, leaving consumers confused about the pros and cons
of choosing the best solution.
