Retdem Handwashing Script

Handwashing is the most effective way to reduce disease transmission. The nurse demonstrates the proper handwashing technique which includes: wetting hands under running water, applying soap, rubbing hands together and between fingers, wrists and arms for at least 20 seconds, rinsing thoroughly, and drying with a clean towel or air drying. Before washing, one must assess for factors that increase infection risk and check hands for dirt or jewelry that could harbor bacteria.

Hand washing

Good day, my name is Reallyn Grace Pante Student nurse from the Emilio Aguinaldo college Cavite. And
today I'm going to show you my return demonstration of handwashing.

Handwashing is the act of cleaning one's hands with the use of any liquid with soap for the purpose of
removing dirt or microorganisms. It is the most effective measure in reducing the risk of transmitting
infectious diseases.

In preparing the procedure of hand washing, we should also have to determine the client's such as first,

Presence of factors increasing

susceptibility to infection and possibility ofundiagnosed infection.

Second would be, Whether the client uses immunosuppressive medications

Third would be, if she or he has Recent diagnostic procedures or

treatments that penetrated the skin or body cavity.

Fourth would be if she or he has Current nutritional status

Fifth would be, if she or he has Signs and symptoms indicating the presence of infection.

Sixth would be the Localize signs –swelling redness, pain or

tenderness with palpations or movements, palpable heat at the site, loss of function of affected body
part or presence of exudate.

The last would be, Systemic indications-fever increased pulse

and respiratory rates; lack of energy;
anorexia or enlarge lymph nodes.

So before we start the procedure, we have to determine the assembled equipment, here a antibacterial
soap, and also a tissue since we don't have a paper towel we just use an alternative. And also we the
faucet where we get the warm running water. So after determining the equipment, we have to assess
our hands. So our nails should be short, and check if we have any jewelries, if we have we should take it
off because it may have bacterias.
So we will start now the procedure. And we will use our sink and faucet.
So i will now open the water and wet my hands throughly by holding them in running water And apply
the antibacterial soap.

Now rub our palms together

Next rub the back of both hands,

After that interface fingers and rub the hands together.
After interlock the fingers and rub the back of fingers of both hands.
RUB THE in a rotating manner. Next rub fingertips on palm for both hands.
Next would be by our clumpsed hands with our fingers rubbing our palms in a rotational mode backward
and also forward.
And rub both wrist In a rotating manner
and also includes our wrist and arms.

After all of this, we can now washed our hands and also our arms.

So after washing our hands, since we inspect that there are no dirts and soap, we will dry our hands
using a tissue or a paper towel.

Discard the paper towel in the appropriate container.

And we will use another tissue to turn off the faucet. Since we touched the faucet earlier with our
contaminated hands, we have to ensure that we will not be touching it again. or else we have to repeat
in washing our hands.

Again discard the tissue.

and that's it we are done in washing and cleaning our hands.
