SAGE X3 UPDATE: REMINDER – JAVABRIDGE DEPRECATION MAY 2022 2

What is the change?
As specified since April 2021 in the Sage X3 Technical Platform Planned Conformance Changes
document published in the Sage X3 online help, the Sage X3 JavaBridge will no longer be
delivered or supported by Sage from July 31, 2022.
This means existing installations of the JavaBridge will keep working, but no new releases will be
delivered, and no issues will be fixed. Sage also does not guarantee long term compatibility of the
JavaBridge with future Sage X3 releases or with oncoming modifications to existing releases such
as security fixes.
As we have done in the Planned Conformance Changes document, we strongly recommend you plan
a transition to other technologies for all customers currently using the JavaBridge. Those include
using the REST capability in X3 to connect to external services or to custom services developed as
needed.
Please contact your Sage Center of Excellence or Sage Support teams if you need more guidance
on which technology to select to replace the JavaBridge.
What are the implications?
Nothing will happen on July 31st, 2022: The JavaBridge component will keep working as usual and
will not be actively removed from your customer’s instances.
However, Sage will stop delivering new releases or bug fixes for the JavaBridge component.
Also, Sage cannot guarantee that the JavaBridge will keep working with future releases of Sage X3,
or with any hot fixes that Sage might issue in the future (including for security).
This means that the JavaBridge might stop working when your customers update or upgrade their
Sage X3 releases, or when they install hot fixes from 31st July 2022.
Why are we stopping the maintenance of the JavaBridge component?
The JavaBridge component is a legacy technology that was introduced in version 6 of Sage X3.
Since then, more current technologies have been introduced, and we have moved away from SOAP
to REST, along with the market globally. Today, Sage X3 uses native REST APIs to call external web
services which are available now.
What version of Sage X3 does this impact?
This impacts ALL versions of Sage X3. JavaBridge is a third component delivered with Sage X3
releases. So different versions of Javabridge are associated to certain version of Sage X3.
Who will be impacted?
This is applicable to all customers in all regions who use the JavaBridge to interface to external
services or to operate Java bundles developed specifically, they are impacted by this change.
What should I do next?
You should start planning the replacement of JavaBridge with a technology that will be
maintained by Sage for interfacing Sage X3 with external services. This includes the native REST
capability which allows Sage X3 to call any external RESTful service using native 4GL APIs, and
which does not require any additional component to be installed. These are available now.
Who can I contact for more information?
Please contact your Sage Center of Excellence or Sage Support teams if you need more guidance
on which technology to select to replace the JavaBridge.
