ABSTRACT

Inequality has persisted even as the world has modernized. It worsens or gets more severe as

expected. People with higher intelligence utilize their intelligence to harm others. Money, Power, and Influence

are the devils that lead people to make bad decisions. Those who are weak should be stepped on, as should

partners who can accommodate their level. A tragic truth of life that demonstrates how vicious individuals can

be. Where their mind is filled with the desire to achieve the above. That is why weak people will try anything to

get to the point where they will no longer be labeled as poor. It is really disheartening to state that there are

occasions when people collaborate with each other solely to fulfill their personal aims. Politicians, in particular,

are an excellent model for discussing this subject. By the time elections are scheduled to take place. Many of

these politicians are deeply religious, and they regularly attend Sunday mass gatherings and other events

designed to elicit sympathy from the public. No hard feelings, but it does exist; to demonstrate this, open your

eyes wider. Examine what is going on outside and investigate the existence of this issue.

I'm not saying I'm flawless because I'm judging what they're doing. I'm just curious how they manage to

participate in such activities. An opportunistic mind's bright notion, which motivates the weak to pursue it.

Because the moment this disappears, they will revert to the status they previously held. In general, I appreciate

those kind-hearted people who help those in need without expecting anything in return. We all understood that

even when they were travelling down a gloomy path, people still had a positive attitude. After all, there is an

ending and begging.

Chapter 9: National Affairs

Characters Involved:

Crisostomo Ibarra, Maria Clara, Aunt Isabel, Father Damaso, Captain Tiago, Captain General, Father Silbya

Summary of the Chapter

Father Dámaso comes to a halt in front of Captain Tiago's house, passing Aunt Isabel and Mara Clara.

Informing him that they are on their way to the convent to fetch Maria Clara's stuff, he exclaims, "Aha! We'll see

who wins, we'll see..." Then he came in and told Tiago to speak privately. Meanwhile, Father Sibyla pays a visit

to an unknown old priest. Sibyla provides details regarding the event involving Dámaso and Ibarra. They both

decided on hosting Ibarra because he is wealthy and prominent. Following Tiago's undying affection, I hope he

marries Mara Clara. Ibarra shifts his gaze to Captain General, whom have heard Dámaso speak negatively

about him. "Women and friars can't hurt you," he chuckles. I intend to live in peace during in the time I have left

in this country, and I don't want any more difficulties with men in skirts." In private, he laments that cardinals

have so much authority in the Philippines. Tiago's house, Dámaso and Tiago discussing the two's marriage,

which he was strongly opposed to. Tiago runs to his household shrine after Dámaso leaves, extinguishing the

lights he placed for Ibarra's safe voyage to San Diego. "There was still time, and the road's a long one," Ibarra

thinks to him.

Interpretation of your Junior High School Teacher for this Chapter

Highlighting the friar's power and influence Where Filipinos are unable to exert themselves, they are

under the effect of their wholesome influence. For whatever the friar says must be followed, and all authority

must guide whoever they choose. Where they find numerous ways to carry out his plans in accordance with

what or how it was started. They showed no mercy and exploited any and all resources, oblivious to the fact

that many Filipinos were biased.

Reflection of the issue in the Chapter to Modern Society

I. The Literary Dilemma's Existence in Modern Society

Cruelties and injustices continue to exist in modern society. Human trafficking, drug trafficking, cyber

prostitution, and other illegal offenses are prevalent in areas where crime is prevalent. This contains the

victims of extrajudicial executions. It may be necessary to go through a lengthy process to remedy these

issues. The most important thing, though, is that there is a solution to the problem.

II. This Chapter Addresses an Implied Topic

It suggests the extent to which Filipinos accept the friars' cruelties and injustices. Our brothers and

sisters are forced to work, and many are oppressed. They can bear the pain because they lack the courage

to exact vengeance. Friars were putting the Indios in a difficult position, forcing them to choose between

killing their fellow men and being killed. It demonstrates how ruthless the Spaniards were towards the

Filipinos.

Personal Reflection

We have no influence over the events that occur in our daily life. This is one of many easy hardships

bestowed upon us by God. To assess our faith and strength in dealing with such a crisis. A chance to show off

our skills, swords, and shields in order to overcome this life's challenge. Facing this defines you as mature

enough to handle another manageable difficulty, or even more- tribulations that will come in due time. A simple

problem at home, work, or in society should be resolved immediately. If you don't deal with it, it will become

much bigger. Simple math, such as facing the problem today and it will vanish tomorrow, can suffice. So far for

this issue, but I've realized that I can't label individuals who turn their backs or refuse to confront their own trials

cowards. We cannot blame or insist that they make it, because who knows what is impeding their plans. In

reality, they are more powerful than you believe because they make sacrifices for the greater good. History truly

repeats itself in reality. Why? It is because it occurs—the injustices, cruelties, influences, and power of those

with money. It appears throughout the Philippine revolution during the Spanish era, when Rizal wrote works

criticizing the friars' system towards Filipinos. Forcible work, taxation, oppressed servants, and so on. It is still in

operation today. When we compare today's administration to the government of the Spanish era, we may infer

that there is a significant divergence and a little degree of similarity. Today's System-Government does not

intervene in any religious activity of the church, and the church cannot intervene in Government propaganda.

During the Spanish era, the government and the church were fully committed to any activity in which Filipinos

were victims. To answer the question, how does the Spanish era resemble today's government system?

Politicians join the picture in some ways. Especially now, when elections are just around the corner. Money is

present in places where it speaks and acts on their behalf. Making a slew of promises to complete projects and

improve this and that. So many flowery chitchats only to convey a large number of voters. In the end, the people

bear the brunt of the repercussions.

a. How does Noli Me Tangere impact our current society?

Our modern society's state is far far from the events of the novel Noli Me Tangere. It serves as a wake-

up call for today's folks. They are completely informed and aware that no one will be oppressed in the same way

as before. To ensure the protection of its citizens, the Philippine government implements Article 3 of the Bill of

Rights. Filipinos were previously unable to protect themselves to the same extent. Concerned folks are always

present when there is an abusive event taking place.

b. Are the problems presented in Noli Me Tangere somehow present in our current society?

Brutalities, injustice, power, and wealth are all prevalent. Inhumanity and injustices in that we are all

aware of the extrajudicial killings related to the drug battle that have spread throughout the country. Corpses are

being left and, in some cases, disposed away. Fame and wealth, because there are many criminals who are still

at large and have not been sentenced. Whereas innocent individuals can be sentenced to "Rigorous

Imprisonment," or twenty or more years in prison, or life imprisonment, money covers it all. This was our

society's incurable cancer, and all we needed to do was stay safe, constantly remembering that there is

someone supervising and safeguarding you beneath us.

Land Ownership in the Country
The possession of land, particularly in Calamba, Laguna, where Rizal was raised. It was one of the

additional reasons that his rebel mind makes a comment about the friars' policies. Where Rizal began writing

his writings as a silent retaliation against the Spaniards. Because he sees his other men being required to work

on the field. Where nothing was left for them because it had already been settled as payment for tax as well as

for the owner moreover, they were still in debt- such were the cycles of their daily lives. Aside from just that, the

original landowners were disposed of for different reasons. When they do not pay payment on time, their

source of income is seized. The inhumane actions of Spaniards towards the Filipinos, if we try to judge them,

they are simply aliens in our nation and yet they all have the authority to condemn us to this predicament. This inspired

Rizal to take action in order to save his fellow brothers from these injustices and brutalities.
