Anchor Reinforcement-Ram

The document discusses two design options for anchor reinforcement in RAM Connection: primary reinforcement and supplementary reinforcement. Primary reinforcement is designed to transfer the full load from anchors into structural members, while supplementary reinforcement restrains concrete breakout but not the full load. The options allow specifying reinforcement for tension or shear loading, with different verification sections applied depending on if it is primary or supplementary reinforcement. Bar size and grade can also be specified.

Anchor reinforcement
RAM Connection has two design options for "Anchor reinforcement"; both of them in "Type of reinforcement" combo
located in "Anchor reinforcement" section. The user can choose between:

 Primary
It refers to the anchor reinforcement used to transfer the full design load from the anchors into the structural
member.

 Supplementary
It refers to the supplementary reinforcement that acts to restrain the potential concrete breakout but is not
designed to transfer the full design load from the anchors into the structural member.

Tension reinforcement
This option indicates that the reinforcement will be used in the requirements for tensile loading.
If the type of reinforcement has been defined as Primary, then the calculation of the concrete breakout strength is not
performed as it is indicated in the ACI 318-08 section D.4.2.1. Instead, the anchor reinforcement is verified following
section D.5.2.9.
In the case where the type of reinforcement has been defined as Supplementary, then the beneficial effect of
supplementary reinforcement is recognized by section D.4.4.
Tension bar size
Indicates the bar size of the tension reinforcement.
Tension bar grade
Indicates the material grade for the tension reinforcement.
Shear reinforcement
This option indicates that the reinforcement will be used in the requirements for shear loading.
If the type of reinforcement has been defined as Primary, then the calculation of the concrete breakout strength is not
performed as it is indicated in the ACI 318-08 section D.4.2.1. Instead, the anchor reinforcement is verified following
section D.6.2.9.
In the case where the type of reinforcement has been defined as Supplementary, then the beneficial effect of
supplementary reinforcement is recognized by Section D.4.4.
Shear bar size
Indicates the bar size of the shear reinforcement.
Shear bar grade
Indicates the material grade for the shear reinforcement.
