the surface without much effort, fresh concrete can be placed directly against the old
surface. The old concrete should be covered by fresh concrete as quickly as possible
and the joint thoroughly and systematically vibrated.
b. In case concrete has hardened a bit more but can still be easily removed by a light
hand pick, the surface will be raked thoroughly and the loose concrete removed
completely without disturbing the rest of the concrete in depth and used a approved
concrete bonding agent is placed on the cold joint, fresh concrete is then placed on
the bonding agent layer and the joint is thoroughly and systematically vibrated
penetrating the vibrator deep into the old layer of concrete.
7.5 Curing
a. Keep concrete surface continuously wet by covering with water.
b. Start initial curing after placing and finishing concrete as soon as free moisture has
disappeared from unformed concrete surfaces. Initial curing starts as soon as concrete
achieves initial set.

 Thoroughly for saturating cover with water and keeping continuously wet. Place
absorptive cover to provide coverage of Concrete surface and edges with 4” lap
over adjacent absorptive Covers.
d.Water shall be sweet water or applicable raw water. In no case water shall have total
