REFLECTION PAPER

The corporate world is constantly evolving and becoming increasingly competitive, which makes it
essential for individuals to develop the necessary skills and personality traits to excel in their field.
Through self-assessment and introspection, I was able to gauge my abilities in various areas such as
corporate social responsibility, ethical decision-making, global management potential, strategic
planning, decision-making styles, organizational culture, adaptability, attitude towards teamwork,
leadership ability, and communication competence.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) plays a vital role in today's business world, as it recognizes that
companies have a responsibility to society and the environment beyond just making a profit. Reflecting
on my own attitude towards CSR, I realize that I have a strong inclination towards it and believe in
thinking beyond profits and money. I understand the importance of taking into account social and
environmental factors while creating strategic plans, and I believe this mindset will give me an
advantage in the business landscape. I also acknowledge that companies that engage in CSR activities
have better financial performance than those that do not (Orlitzky et al., 2011). I am committed to
incorporating CSR principles into my future business practices.

The concept of ethical decision-making is crucial for any professional, as it helps in making the right
decisions. Reflecting on my own ethical orientation, I found that I have a subjectivist orientation,
meaning that I believe that ethical standards vary depending on the situation. This aligns with the
concept of relativism, which states that ethical standards are situational and subjective viewpoints should
be valued (Forsyth, 1980). I realize that this self-awareness will be useful in my professional career as I
can take it into account when making decisions. Companies with a strong ethical culture have better
employee engagement and higher levels of trust from customers (Davis, 2011)

The ability to work well in different cultures is crucial for success in today's globalized business
environment. Reflecting on my own global management potential, I found that I have strong potential to
work as a global manager. I have already been studying as an expatriate and have developed a diverse
personality, which will be an asset in working in different cultures. I have strong orientation towards
commitment and acknowledging the cultural differences. Cultural intelligence is a key factor in the
success of global managers (Tarique & Schuler, 2012)
Strategic planning is a crucial management skill that allows companies to set long-term goals and
develop a plan to achieve them. Reflecting on my own skills in strategic planning, I found that I need to
improve my skills in this area. I plan to do so by involving myself in more research-oriented tasks and
taking practical courses that will help me improve my research and computer skills. Organizations that
engage in formal strategic planning have better performance than those that do not (Mintzberg et al.,
1998).

Decision-making styles differ in terms of tolerance for ambiguity and orientation towards tasks or
people (Rowe, 1998). Reflecting on my own decision-making style, I found that I have a behavioral
style that prioritizes people over technical details and has low tolerance for ambiguity. I value clarity
over ambiguity, and I do value people over technical details. Effective decision-making is a key factor in
the success of managers (Posner, 2011).

Organizational culture is the set of beliefs, values, and practices which structures an organizational
framework and its members. Reflecting on my own understanding of different organizational cultures, I
realize that I am aware of the fact that organizations vary in their established culture. It is important to
understand and adapt to the culture of an organization in order to be successful in that organization (Den
Hartog & Koopman, 2004). Being able to understand and adapt to different cultures is crucial for
success in today's globalized business environment.

Adaptability is the capability to change and adapt to new situations. Reflecting on my own adaptability,
I found that I am able to adapt to new situations well. Adaptability is an important trait for the long-term
success in today's rapidly changing business environment (Jackson et al., 2011). Adaptability surveys
gauge an individual's ability to adapt to different situations, which can be a useful tool for self-reflection
and for identifying areas for improvement.

Teamwork is essential for the success of any organization, and my willingness to work with others and
collaborate on projects will be an asset in my professional career (Lencioni, 2002). Reflecting on my
own attitude towards teamwork, I found that it is positive. A positive attitude towards teamwork means
being willing to work with others, collaborating on projects, and being open to different perspectives
and ideas. It also means being a good team player, being reliable and dependable, and being willing to
put the team's goals above one's own.
Leadership is an essential skill for any manager, and it is important to have strong leadership abilities.
Reflecting on my own leadership abilities, I found that I possess strong leadership skills. Leadership
abilities means having the ability to inspire and motivate others, having the ability to make difficult
decisions, having the ability to delegate tasks effectively, having the ability to communicate effectively
and being able to lead by example. Strong leadership abilities are important because they are positively
correlated with organizational performance (Avolio et al., 2010).

Effective communication is essential for success in any field, and it is important to have strong
communication competence. Reflecting on my own communication competence, I found that it is
strong. Communication competence includes being able to communicate with others, being able to listen
actively, being able to give and receive feedback, being able to adapt to different communication styles
and being able to use different forms of communication clearly and effectively. Strong communication
competence is important because it is a key variable in the success of managers (Tannenbaum et al.,
2017).

Conclusion:

In conclusion, this reflection paper provided an introspective analysis of various metrics including
corporate social responsibility, ethical decision-making framework, global management potential,
strategic planning, decision-making styles, organizational culture, adaptability, attitude towards
teamwork, leadership ability, and communication competence. The process of analyzing my own
abilities and potential in these areas has helped me to identify my strengths and areas for improvement.
Corporate social responsibility and ethical decision-making are important concepts in the business
world, and I have a strong inclination towards them, which will give me an edge in the competitive
business landscape. My potential as a global manager, my awareness of different organizational cultures
and my adaptability are strengths that will be useful in today's rapidly changing business environment.
On the other hand, strategic planning and decision-making styles are areas that I need to work on. I plan
to improve my skills in these areas by involving myself in more research-oriented tasks and taking
practical courses that will help me improve my research and computer skills. In summary, this reflection
paper helped me to understand my strengths and areas for improvement, and it will be a useful tool for
my professional development. I plan to continue to reflect on my abilities and potential in these areas in
order to achieve my goals and excel in my career.
