What is It
WORLD WIDE WEB (WWW)
It is a powerful tool for communicating ideas, facts and opinions throughout the world.
WWW is an open source information space where documents and other web resources are
identified by Uniform Resource Locator (URL), interlinked by hypertext links, and can be
accessed via the internet. It is simply known as the Web. The World Wide Web was central to the
development of the Information Age and is the primary tool for billions of people to interact over
the internet.
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE SINGLE INTERFACE FOR ACCESSING THE PROTOCOLS THAT
ARE PROVIDED BY THE WORLD WIDE WEB:

2. FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
It is a standard communication protocol used for the transfer of computer files from a server
to a client on a computer network.

12
HYPERTEXT & HYPERLINK
Hyper Text is a document containing words that connect to other documents. Rather
than remaining static like traditional text, hypertext makes possible a dynamic organization of
information through links and connections (called hyperlinks). Hyperlink is a reference to data
that the reader can directly follow by clicking or by hovering.
https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/hyperlink-vs-hypertext/
WEBSITE
It is a set of related web pages typically served from a single web domain. A website is a
collection of Web pages, images, videos or other digital assets that is hosted on one or more web
servers, usually accessible via the internet. The pages of a website can usually be accessed from
a common root URL called the homepage and usually reside on the same physical server. The
URLs of the pages organize them into a hierarchy, although the hyperlinks between them
control how the reader perceives the overall structure and how the traffic flows between the
different parts of the site.

WEB PAGE
A web page is a resource of information that is suitable for the World Wide Web and can be
accessed through a web browser. This information is usually in HTML or XHTML format and
may provide navigation to other web pages via hypertext links.
Web Pages may be retrieved from a local computer or from a remote web server. The web
server may restrict access only to a private network, e.g. a corporate intranet or it may publish
pages on the World Wide Web.
Web pages are requested and served from web servers using Hypertext Transfer Protocol
(HTTP). Web pages may consist of files of static text stored within the web server’s file system
(static web pages) or the web server may construct the HTML for each web pages when it is
requested by a browser (dynamic web pages). Client-side scripting can make web pages more
responsive to user input once in the client browser.

TYPES OF WEB SITES

https://www.slideshare.net/ZeeshanAlam/www-website-webpage
14
• Dynamic Website
It is one that does not have web pages stored on the server in the
same form as the user will view them. Instead, the web page content
changes automatically and/or frequently based on certain criteria. It
generally collates information on the hope each time a page is requested.
A website can be dynamic in one of two ways. The first is that the web
page code is constructed dynamically, piece by piece. The second is that the
web page content displayed varies based on certain criteria.
