Farming with Tech
We finally decided to make the "Farming with Tech" idea because we
think is the idea that has the most impact in our world, the
automatization of farming is a process that can help a lot because the
robot would be tiny enough to be among plants without make them
any damage, instead of large diesel-powered trucks this robot will do
the job without generating any pollution in the environment.
why and how are we making this project?
We are making this project because there’s a
decrease number of natural resources and that is
provoking that we start to have a worse life as the
time passes and we are making it by using the
resources we have and then so can use resources
from people that are interested in the idea and
can make better this project.

FARMING WITH TECH

The main idea

Farming with Tech consists in a project with the idea of farm automation. The idea consists of a

improving a seeding robot reducing human effort and time is a device that helps in the sowing of

seeds in the desired position hence assisting the farmers in saving time and money. Seed sowing is

one of the main processes of farming activities. It requires a substantial number of human efforts and

time-consuming. This project aims to design and fabrication of the smart seed sowing robot for the

mentioned task. This robot will be autonomous and is going to help people planting in their crops. This

kind of technology also capable of working 24/7.

And with the recent problem of farmers leaving their crops looking for a better life in the city and the

constant fear of all the consequences this action has, with this technology and the farm automation

there is nothing to worry about because farms would keep producing for the cities.

And what is farm automation?

Farm automation, often associated with “smart farming”, is technology that makes farms more efficient

and automates the crop or livestock production cycle. An increasing number of companies are working
on robotics innovation to develop autonomous tractors, robotic harvesters, automatic watering, and

seeding robots.

This type of technologies are new and the industry has seen an increasing number of traditional

agriculture companies adopt farm automation into their processes and in order make agriculture

more efficient, the governments from different nations must work together side by side, sharing

technologies for more growth. and more efficient crop yielding techniques to satisfy the recent

demand of humongous populations.

In the investigation of the project, we find out that this is already an existing idea that some

farmers already use this type of technology some examples of this project are:

The use of these autonomous robots is being promoted for agricultural actions, this for the

operation of robots that are responsible for new modern agricultural techniques and are

responsible for doing the work. This is driving market growth and increased investment in

robots that take care of agriculture.

Recently an autonomous robot was developed to plant seeds in the desert.

A'seedbot, is a small autonomous solar robot, programmed to roam the desert planting seeds.

This project was recently done in order to grow trees and plants in desert areas. The main

functionality of the A'seedbot is to move autonomously throughout the day, to obtain energy.
The function of our robot will be similar like this idea, but with different things that help people

in all the world by the autonomous robot to plant seed in their own crops. This robot is for the

purpose of developing a new farming system that allows us to make the job easier and save.

The benefits of this idea are:

Money saving:

(we are talking about the hectare cost in the main corn producer nations. 100 meters X 100

meters )

USA

The leader of the list, have costs of 1000 dollars per hectare in the seeding process

China

Can reach around 79,000 dollars per acre of corn

Brazil

The costs between 500 and 1500 dollars the acre in the seeding process

With the stem idea we plan to reduce the costs of this cultivation and seeding process.
Time Saving:

By saving time we are refer to hours which are very valuable time for the farmers and the

people in the agriculture sector would save time to do other things that require the

time.peoples

Eco Friendly:

A robot can reduce the contamination produced during the application process, helping

to improve the environment. This helps to decrease the pollutants in the air, on the earth,

and decrease the need to dispose increased waste.

Some previous robots that had been develop under this concept are

Fendt Xaver

Xaver is equipped with a seed unit developed by Precision Planting.

Consist on a 3 wheels robot able to calculate the depth in ground and humity.
How are we going to develop this project.

We planned to use wheels and a few motors to make able the robot to move around the soil/

ground/ field, we plan to include a tiny boto with the seeds inside in it.

As a battery we think the best option possible is a solar battery.

A Sensor for the movement we think can be a great idea to add to the robot to make it

React when ever is going to hit something or someone we calculate that the approximated size

could be around 15 – 10 cm large.

Introduction
-For our STEM project we decided to make a programmed robot that will help
with farming in society and with the automation of the processes. It will
improve how fast we plant and the way in which things are farmed, also with
the care of the plants. The importance of our project in our society is very
important, it helps with many parts of the agriculture industry hence it helps
with farming at a very high range. We collected the necessary materials to
make this project a reality. With this autonomous robot we want to help the
farmers to do the work of planting and taking care easier and faster and we
want to make an improvement in the economy, for the farmers, and for all
the people. In all these stages we constructed the robot to fulfill the goals
that we had for the robot.
Theorical Framework

In recent years, the adoption of digital technologies in precision agriculture

has been adjusting the ways that farmers treat crops and manage fields. The
technology has changed the concept of smart farming making it more
profitable, efficient, safer, and simple.

Aided by the significant advancements in technology, farming innovation

really began to pick up during the second half of the 20th century and into
the beginning of the 21st century. Today, these developments are growing
exponentially, forever changing how farmers work and what we can all
accomplish through agriculture.

Farming with tech is a project designed for agriculture in our world.

Nowadays farming has become something big and a need in our society. It
is what gives us the necessary recourses to maintain good eating habits. The
function of our robot will be similar like this idea, but with different things that
help people in all the world by the autonomous robot to plant seed in their
own crops. This robot is for the purpose of developing a new farming system
that allows us to make the job easier and save.

In our STEM project, we have different benefits that can help improve the
farming,for example:

Money saving:

(We are talking about the hectare cost in the main corn producer nations.
100 meters X 100 meters)

-USA
The leader of the list, have costs of 1000 dollars per hectare in the seeding
process

-China
Can reach around 79,000 dollars per acre of corn Brazil
With the stem idea we plan to reduce the costs of this cultivation and seeding
process.

dollars the acre in the seeding

The costs between 500 and 1500
process

Time Saving:

By saving time we are refer to hours which are very valuable time for the
farmers and the people in the agriculture sector would save time to do other
things that require the time.

Improved flexibility:

As onboard sensors and cameras are used in our robot for the operations, it
offers agility and flexibility. It follows a dynamic and efficient path from a
particular point to the destination by tackling obstacles. This flexibility can
also be gained in terms of switching from one task to another with ease and
less time. With the shortest path and less time to reach destinations, the
benefits of flexibility can be reaped in warehouses and large manufacturing
plants.

Eco Friendly:

A robot can reduce the contamination produced during the application

process, helping to improve the environment. This helps to decrease the
pollutants in the air, on the earth, and decrease the need to dispose
increased waste.

Problem statement

Research questions
-What problems can this autonomous robot solve?
-How can this project help solving problems in the society?

Some of the problems we want to solve with this prototype of growing seeds
is the time spent on harvesting a person, in the physical wear that can be
had, this although some people is their job, a robot is what this world is going
to be filled with and we need to adapt to the new advancements.
General objectives
The main objective of our project is to find new solutions in farming with new
technologies, improving and helping necessities that people have when
farming
Specific objectives
Also we want to solve an economy problem improving the society´s economy
by decreasing the money spending of the farmers and also of all the people.
Hypothesis

For our hypothesis we can say that our robot will help farming and agriculture
by programming it. This is mainly about high-tech that involves the
programming language. Our robot is also expected to be used in farmed
automation process. Also, the mechanism will be good and the function it will
have of planting will work as expected.
Development

Method: The method we are using for the construction of our robot is
manual, and we are also implementing the programming system to have an
autonomous robot that can help in faming the seeds.

Materials:
• Acrylic Plates
• Machinery Parts
• Transmission Parts
• Electronic Parts
• Raspberry Pi 4 computer

Results:

Analysis of results: The results of our robot were as we expected, maybe

even better. Its functionality is adequate to what was intended. The seeds
are planted at a good speed and quality. At the end of this work the robot
was programmed very well since it reaches a very good speed and plants
the seed at a good distance.

Discussion: The knowledge we can acquire from our project is that a robot
with an effective programming system can benefit some areas of
agriculture, and this with a bigger range can bring an improvement in the
farming industry.

W. Brian Arthur, a visiting researcher at the intelligence systems laboratory

at the Xerox Research Center in Palo Alto, calls it the "autonomous
economy." It's much more subtle than the idea of robots and automation
taking care of human jobs, he says: it involves "digital processes talking to
other digital processes and creating new processes".
Arthur also argues that it is mainly this avalanche of digital processes that
explains how productivity has grown without there having been a significant
increase in human labour. And he says that "digital versions of human
intelligence" are increasingly replacing even those positions for which
people were thought to be needed. "This will change all professions in
ways we haven't even begun to see," he warns.

Conclusions: We can conclude that our hypothesis was correct, our robot
make good function in farming and placed the seed in its place. In our
project the programming can be an unexpected but beneficial method to
help with needed agricultural activities. We can make farming a faster
process in industries and planting easier in daily places of our lives.
