LP Illustrating Rational Algebraic Expression

The document outlines a lesson plan about rational algebraic expressions with the following key points: 1) The objectives are for students to define, identify, and evaluate rational algebraic expressions. 2) The lesson involves reviewing previous material, motivating students with an activity, and the teacher presenting examples of rational expressions and how to evaluate them. 3) Students will practice identifying and evaluating rational expressions through group and individual activities.

Semi – Detailed Lesson Plan

Illustrating Rational Algebraic Expression

I. Objectives

At the end of the discussion, the students should be able to:

 define Rational Algebraic Expression

 identify Rational Algebraic Expression
 evaluate Rational Algebraic Expression

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Illustrating Rational Algebraic Expression

Learning Materials: Projector/Smart TV, Laptop, PowerPoint Presentation,

White board and marker.

References: Mathematics Learner’s Module by Emmanuel S. Saga, et.

al, pp. CG Code: M8AL-Ic-2

Value Focus: Cooperation and Critical Thinking

III. Procedure

A. Review

The students will recall their previous lesson through an activity entitled “Pick a
Number”. The teacher will flash on the TV screen five animated students holding
a board with a number on it, and five students will choose a number that has a
corresponding question that they will answer.

B. Motivation
“Reveal Me” The teacher will present thirteen (13) jumbled letters where students
need to arrange by answering the questions to get the message.

C. Presentation
The teacher will present his presentation and will define rational algebraic
expression.
The teacher will discuss and identify the difference between rational and non-
rational algebraic expression and give examples in evaluating rational algebraic
expression.

D. Application
Activity 1: You Belong with Me
It is a group activity, as the song entitled “you belong with me” plays, the group
will classify the different expressions below as to which set of expressions they
belong. They will write the expression in the appropriate column. When the song
stops they will stop answering as well.
Activity 2: Know My Value

It is an individual activity, the first three students to answer the given rational
expressions will be given additional points.
Directions: Evaluate the rational algebraic expressions.

_____________1. 5𝑥3𝑥−9; 𝑥=4

_____________2. 𝑦2+4𝑦+1𝑦2−1 ; 𝑦=−2
_____________3. 𝑧3−4𝑧2+2𝑧𝑧2−5𝑧+6 ; 𝑧=−3

E. Generalization

The teacher will ask the students to sum up their lesson
