SECTION I
DIRECTED SITUATIONS
1. Write in SPANISH the information required for EACH of the situations given below.
Do NOT write more than ONE sentence for each situation. For some situations a
complete sentence may not be necessary. Do NOT translate the situations given. Do
NOT use abbreviations. DO NOT WRITE EACH ANSWER ON A DIFFERENT
PAGE.
(a) You report to the police that your valuable pet dog has been stolen. Write two
descriptive features of the dog that you submit to the police.
(b) You participated in a karaoke competition and the judges wrote two reasons why
they enjoyed your performance. What did the judges write?
(c) You are not feeling well and go to visit the doctor. He recommends two things you
ought to do. What does he recommend?
(d) Your school football/netball team lost the game yesterday. Write your brother/
sister an email giving two reasons why the team lost the game.
(e) Your teacher asks you to write down two details you will always remember about
your Spanish class after you have left school. What do you write?
(f) You are having a party and need help with the preparations. Send an email to your
friend requesting assistance with a particular activity.
(g) You have been admitted to a new school. As you fill out the registration form you
are required to state two reasons why you selected that school. What do you write?
(h) You were very disappointed with the service you received from the receptionist at
a hotel. Write a note to the manager stating how you feel about the incident.
(i) You are in your bedroom and do not wish to be disturbed. Write a note to hang on
the door including the reason.
(j) You have won a trip to a Spanish-speaking country of your choice. Send an email
to a friend indicating your choice and two reasons for your selection.

SECTION II
LETTER/COMPOSITION
Use ONE of the following outlines as a guide to write EITHER a letter OR a composition
of NO MORE THAN 130‒150 words in SPANISH. Use the tenses appropriate to the topic
which you have chosen.

things have been happening in your life. Write a letter to your relative in which you

Use 80‒100 words in the INSERT provided to complete the dialogue between you
and your grandmother by giving your responses.
You will soon be leaving home to study abroad. Before you leave you visit your
grandmother to inform her of your departure.

A Lesson Learnt
Pedro Sarmiento abordó el vuelo que lo llevaría de Madrid a Caracas. Cuando encontró
el número de su asiento se molestó. La pasajera al lado de él tenía una pierna fracturada
y su asiento estaba sobre el pasillo porque era más cómodo para ella.
Pedro estaba enojado y empezó a gritar. Dijo que sería muy incómodo para él viajar tantas
horas sentado al lado de la pasajera. Sería muy difícil ir al baño durante este vuelo tan
largo. Entonces llamó a la azafata, la señorita Aldana.
La azafata le respondió:- Muy bien señor. Tengo que hablar con el capitán. Al regresar
la azafata, el Sr. Sarmiento iba a ponerse de pie, pero ella le dijo:
