I. Title

MID-YEAR REVIEW OF TEACHERS’ PERFORMANCE AND IN-SERVICE TRAINING

(INSET) ON IMPROVING TEACHERS’ COMPETENCE ON TEACHING STRATEGIES IN
READING AND NUMERACY SKILLS

II. Rationale

It is the vital role of every school administrator to provide activities to teachers

that will improve their capabilities and will eventually increase pupil achievement
in literacy and numeracy. As stipulated in RA 9155, school heads are empowered
to provide programs and activities to meet the needs and satisfy the gaps in
effective delivery of our teachers.
It is in this light, that we came up with holding this in-service training following
the DepEd Order No. 034, s. 2022 or the School Calendar of Activities for the
School Year 2022-2023, in the hope that teachers will be refreshed with the
programs and thrusts of the department, as the third and fourth quarters of the
school commence.

III. Training Objectives

1. Review of teachers’ performance to address concerns through cooperative
effort.
2. Improve teachers’ competence on teaching strategies that enhance learner
achievement in literacy and numeracy skills.
3. Enhance differentiated instructional materials in teaching reading and
numeracy.
4. Craft an Action Plan for Struggling Readers and Non-numerates learners.
