5G NR MAC Layer Overview12

This document provides an overview of 5G NR layer protocols including the MAC layer, RLC layer, and PDCP layer. It describes 5G NR modes and architecture. It also discusses procedures that occur when upper layers request a bearer or PDCP entity release or suspension, such as discarding stored SDUs and delivering remaining PDUs in order. Additionally, it identifies the layers in the protocol stack from layers 1 to 3 and provides a brief introduction to Internet of Things (IoT) standards and communication methods.

5G NR Overview

It covers 5G NR modes (TM mode),data structures (TMD),RLC (TMD, UMD, AMD), transfers (TM, and)
and RRC which defines RLC. layer including functions.

5G NR PDCP Overview

When upper request a release for a bearer, the shall:

discard all stored SDUs and PDCP in the;

for DRBs and, deliver the in the receiving to upper layers in ascending order.

release the for the radio.

When upper layers request a entity suspend, the receiving PDCP entity shall:

if t-Reordering is running:

stop and reset t-;

deliver all stored PDCP to the upper in ascending order of associated COUNT values after performing
header decompression;

set RX_NEXT and RX_ to the value.

n layer 3 we have: NAS, RRC

In layer 2 we have: SDAP, PDCP, RLC, MAC.

In layer 1 we have: PHY.

IoT stands for Internet of Things. It is basically a network using which things can communicate with each
other using internet as means of communication between them. All the things should be IP protocol
enabled in order

There are various IoT products based on various wireless and other standards such as KNX, PLC, Zigbee,
Zwave, Lonworks, LoRA, SIGFOX
