Course Description This course reviews concepts, techniques, and systems issues in advanced Internet application development, and explores new
challenges and research issues that are critical for developing big data systems and applications, such as search engines (incl. robots
and indexing servers), Web servers, application servers and web- based online transaction systems, Internet scale social media and
social network systems.

This course examines the theory, concepts, and techniques for designing, producing, and evaluating Web applications to meet specific
information needs. Students engage in design projects applying theoretical constructs to the provision of web-based information
resources using advanced programming tools and techniques.

Class Policy CLASS POLICIES


 All cellular phones must be in silent mode or off during the entire class period. Should a phone ring or beep, the owner of the
phone is required to prepare a lecture for the next class meeting.
 Attendance will be checked. A tardy student should report tardiness right after class to avoid being penalized a cut.
 Exams will be announced at least one week before its schedule.
 Projects are due by 5:00 pm on the deadline date specified.
 Late submissions will be given deductions of 5 percentage points per day. A project or any submissions may be, at most, 5
days late. If submitted after 5 days, no points shall be given.
