DURING THE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN IN KAWIT, CAVITE

INTRODUCTION

Small business is defined as a privately owned corporation, partnership, or


sole proprietorship that has fewer employees and less annual revenue than a
corporation or regular-sized business. The definition of "small"—in terms of being
able to apply for government support and qualify for preferential tax policy—varies
by country and industry. The U.S. Small Business Administration defines a small
business according to a set of standards based on specific industries.Small business
enterprise only starts even with small investment, some of its examples are sari stores,
convenience stores, small grocery stores, bakeries or delicatessens, hairdressers or
tradespeople (e.g., carpenters, electricians), restaurants, motels, photographers, very
small-scale manufacturing, and Internet-related businesses such as web design and
computer programming and many more. Small business enterprises are one of the
most affected by the pandemic because they have stopped their business. Due to the
increasing number of cases of covid 19, its owners may also have difficulty in selling.
Many business enterprise owners were shut down in their business at the height of the
pandemic, but many of them have now recovered. We will find out how they
recovered after the pandemic. What they did when they quit their business and how
they survived. and what motivates them to start a new business again.
Statement of the Problem

This study is designed to determine the lived experiences of small business


enterprise owners during the covid-19 lockdown in Kawit, Cavite. In detail, this study
seeks to find the answer in the following questions:

1. What are the lived experiences of small business enterprise owners during the
covid-19 lockdown?

2. What are the essences of the lived experiences of small business enterprise owners
during the covid-19 lockdown?

3. What are the plan of actions of the small experiences of small business enterprise
owners in order for the business to survive?

Objectives of the Study

Generally, this study will aim to elevate the lived experiences of sari-sari store
proprietors during the pandemic in Kawit, Cavite. Specifically, this study will
determine the following:
1. The lived experiences of small business enterprise owners during the covid-19
lockdown.
2. The essences of the lived experiences of small business enterprise owners during
the covid-19 lockdown.
3. The plan of actions of the small experiences of small business enterprise owners in
order for the business to survive.
Significance of the Study
This research was conducted to provide information about the Small Business
Enterprise Owners in kawit cavite during the pandemic.This Study will benefit to the
following entities:

Small Business Enterprise Owners: This study will be beneficial to the


small business enterprise owners because this research will raise information on how
thier business cope with challenges brought by the pandemic.

Researcher: This study will be beneficial to the researcher because they will
gain knowledge and understanding this study.

Future Researcher: This study will be beneficial to the future Researcher


because they can use this as reference and gain their own perception about this certain
topic.They will be a guided if they will device a topic related to our chosen topic.

Time and Place of the Study

The study will be conducted at Kawit, Cavite in the second semester of the
school year 2021-2022 from April 2021 to May 2022.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

The coverage of this study is knowing the lived experiences of small business

enterprise owners during the covid-19 lockdown of in Kawit, Cavite. The researchers

will limit the participants for this study, five (5) the small business enterprise owners.

Conceptual Framework

This is a figure that shows the three process of conducting the research:

INPUT
 Interviews from the small business enterprise owners in
Kawit, Cavite during the covid-19 lockdown.

PROCESS
 Analysis of the interviews from the small business
enterprise owners about their experiences during the
covid-19 lockdown

OUTPUT
 To understand how the small business enterprise owners
sustain their business during the covid-19 lockdown.

Figure 1 illustrates the process of gathering data for the study, Lived
Experiences of small business enterprise owners during the covid-19 lockdown in
Kawit, Cavite. The inputs of the research that will be conducted are to know the
experiences of the small business enterprise owners during the covid-19 lockdown in
Kawit, Cavite. The data that will be gathered from this qualitative study will come
from different respondents especially the small business enterprise owners of Kawit,
Cavite.
Definition of Terms

Small Business Enterprise Owners: This study will be beneficial to the


small business enterprise owners because this research will raise information on how
thier business cope with challenges brought by the pandemic.

Researcher: This study will be beneficial to the researcher because they will
gain knowledge and understanding this study.

Future Researcher: This study will be beneficial to the future Researcher


because they can use this as reference and gain their own perception about this certain
topic.They will be a guided if they will device a topic related to our chosen topic.
METHODOLOGY

This chapter includes the research design, source of data, sampling technique,

research method, research instrument, and data gathering.

Research Design

The method that is used in this research is Phenomenological Study.


Phenomenological Study explores what people experienced and focuses on their
experiences of a phenomena. Phenomenological study will let the researchers to
understand the lived experiences of the small business enterprise owners during the
Covid-19 lockdown.

Source of Data

The study was conducted at Kawit, Cavite. The participants that are five(5)
chosen small business enterprise owners which is a major source of information about
their experiences during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Sampling Technique

Purposive sampling will be utilized to collect data. Researchers employ


purposeful sampling to discover individuals who can provide in-depth and detailed
information about the phenomena they're researching. In order to be stable and good,
this study also requires trustworthy data from the participants.

Research Method

The researchers will administer in-depth interview.An in-depth interview is an


open-ended, discovery-oriented method to obtain detailed information about a topic
from a stakeholder. Researchers choose this method because in-depth interviews will
be potentially be so insightful, it is possible to identify highly valuable findings
quickly. And also the interviewer gets an opportunity to develop a rapport with the
participant, thereby making them comfortable.

Research Instrument
The researcher will collect data using an interview questionnaire as the researcher
instrument. This strategy will allow the researcher to obtain information directly from
the participants as well as ask follow-up questions for more in-depth extraction and
collection of data.The questions are about small business enterprise owners , where
we will find out what our their lived experiences and how they overcame the
problems they faced in the midst of the pandemic

Data Gathering Procedure

The researchers requested a letter from the research instructor that is needed to
be signed by the school principal in order to be allowed to partake in researching.
When the letter is signed, the researchers are allowed to search for different
information about the study.After that, we will start conducting interviews concerning
lived experiences of chosen small business enterprise owners in Kawit, Cavite using
limits and techniques used by teachers in handling the lesson.
