Applied Social Studies / Social Care / Social Care Practice awards are accepted from education providers as indicated below for degrees awarded up to and including 2015 only.
These awards are approved for work in the Early Years sector and for ECCE Room Leader at the standard rate of capitation, providing the award certificate is dated 2015 or earlier.
Honours or Ordinary level degrees with these titles are accepted up to 2015. Older degrees from Institutes of Technology may have been awarded by the NCEA (up to 2001) or HETAC (2001 to 2012).
These should be accepted also.

Note on Spanish degree qualifications:

Degrees accepted are in Early Childhood Education (Educación Infantil) or Primary Education (Educación Primaria). Degrees may be the equivalent of an ordinary level degree (Maestro / Maestra) or the equivalent of an honours
level degree (Grado / Grada, Graduado / Graduada, Magisterio). The translation of any of these titles is typically ‘degree’ or ‘bachelors degree’. Translations can vary; this does not have a bearing on the approval of the degree.
Known variations in translation include ‘University degree’, Graduate degree’, ‘Bachelor of Arts’ or ‘Bachelor of Arts in Teaching’. Title of the University is also given in the original language, as used on the graduating certificate;
this may be in the language of the region, or Spanish, or both.

The degree title may include a specialization in a particular subject or teaching mode (in Spanish, con mención .e.g Grado en Educatión Infantil con Mención en Lengua Inglesa [Degree in Early Childhood Education with
specialization in English language]). These specializations are taken in addition to the main degree pathway. Approval is not affected, and for the purposes of this list, degrees with specializations are considered the same as those
without.
