Field - Screen Selection in Material Master in SAP MM

Field Selection in Material Master SAP MM

Define whether a field is hidden or displayed, or whether an entry is


mandatory or optional in material master. The function Field selection allows
you to change the attributes of screen fields dynamically at runtime.

Step by Step process of Field Selection in SAP MM


Step: - 1
 Check the Field Reference in Material type.
Path to check the Field Reference: -
SPRO->IMG-> Logistics – General-> Material Master-> Basic Settings-> Material
Types-> Define Attributes of Material Types

 Double click on this below screen opens.

 Also we can use the T-Code: - OMS2.


 Click on Position.
 Enter Material Type as below. Our material type is YROH: - Std. Raw

 Click on Material Type & Select details as below shown.

 Below Screen opens.

 It will show the detail view of Material type as above.


 Here Field Reference: - ROH Selection Reference: - ROH

Step: - 2
 By using T-Code: - MM01 Just Create material for Checking
purpose of Field Screen in Material Type: -YROH
 Enter the T-Code in command bar.

 Enter the Material Type: - YROH & Select the Basic view for Material
Creation & Press enter.

 Here as shown above Material Group & Base Unit of Measure are
required field under Basic Data 1.
 Enter the required details & Press enter. Next Purchasing View Opens.

 Under Purchasing View Purchasing Group is Required field & Order Unit
is only Display.
 So here we can Make the Order Unit is Required Field as per Business
Requirement.
 For this we need to Set the Filed selection for Material Master.
 Material 100000000000040110 created.
Step: - 3
 Set the Field Selection for Material Master.
Path to Set Field Reference for Material Master: -
SPRO->IMG-> Logistics – General-> Material Master-> Field Selection->
Maintain Field Selection for Data Screens

 By double click on this below screen opens.

 We can directly use the T-Code: - OMS9 also. By using this above same
screen opens.
 As above shown in Step: - 2 we need to change the Order unit is
required filed for our Material type i.e. YROH
 For this we need to Display the material created i.e.
100000000000040110. By using T-Code: -MM03
 Select the Basic view & Display the Material. Go to the Purchasing View
of material as below.

 Here Order unit is not required field.
 Drag the Pointer on Order Unit & Press F1 Key. Below screen opens.

 Click on the Technical Information as above shown.


 System will show you all the Technical Details as below.

 Screen Field: - MARA-BSTME Copy this Table Name.
 Again go Back to the screen of OMS9.

 Select the Drop Down list of Field Selection Group as shown above.

 Click on Find or Press Control-F
 Enter the Screen Field: - MARA-BSTME & Press enter.

 Then system will show you the Field Selection Group. i.e. 199

 Just take back & Enter the Field Selection Group. i.e. 199 & Click on
Position.

 Enter the Field Reference i.e. ROH shown in Material Type: - YROH

 Select the Field reference & Click on Detailed View as shown below.

 Below screen opens.

 As Field Selection Group. i.e. 199 is optional entry.

 Make it a Required Entry & Save the Data.
 Data was saved
 Now as per the configuration Order Unit is required Field.

Step: - 4
 Change the Material Master by using T-Code: - MM02

 Enter the material & select the Purchasing view.

 Now as per the Configuration Order Unit is Required Field as above
shown.

 Without enter it system will not allow to save the data as above shown.

 Enter the Order Unit. Save the data.
 Material 100000000000040110 changed.
 This is how we can set the Screen/Field Selection for Material Master.
