Phleng kar
- Is the music played at wedding ceremonies.The musical ensemble includes
seven instruments from the string , wind , and percussion group.
- It is believed that the music bring good fortune for the newlywed couple
- Is the secular or non religious music.
- It is used to accompany folk dances and yike , and ensemble that accompanies a
popular from of Cambodian theater.
- The MAHORI is characterized by a significant movement.

AEROPHONES
Khloy – pipe flute held vertically made bamboo , hardwood or plastic
Angkuoch – a jaw harp made of bamboo or metal .
Ploy – a mouth organ with 5 to 7 bamboo
Sneng – free-reed aerophone made from the horn of a water buffalo or ox
Ken- free-reed used in Northwestern Cambodia.
CHORDOPHONES
Krapeu – a crocodile shaped , three stringed floor zither with frets.
Khim – a hammered dulcimer
Chapey dang veng – a plucked lute with frets.
MEMBRANOPHONES
Sampho- hand played barrel drum
Skor thom- a pair of large barrel drums played using sticks
Thon- is a drum with a shape of goblet played hands
Rumana – a drum enclosed in a frame played with hands

Traditional Costume and Attire
Women’s
Kemban – a traditional attire especially those in the rural areas consist of sarong tied
around their chest.
Baju Kurung- a loose fitting blouse that is above the knee-length
Baju kebaya- this is worn on the top of a long skirt that has pleats on its side.
Hijabs- are worn by women when around men to whom they are not related to as sign
of modesty

Tudung
-is a fabric used to cover the head , hair and ears
- it is worn in schools, offices and formal occasions
Selendang
-it is also a head covering fabric but is more likely to used as a scarf, not used in formal
occasions.
Men’s Attire
Baju melayu- traditional attire of men consists of loose shirt
Sampin- is a sarong tied around the hips , worn over the pants
Headdresses
Sangkok- a black fez-like cap
Tengkolok- is a more ornate headdress used for special formal occasions.
Architecture
Longhouse – is suited to its tropical climate, its indigenous houses are much like bahay
kubo .They are built with high pitched roofs , wide windows and usus nipa as wall
coverings

-represents the trading and colonial history of the country
- it is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is like Intramuros in manila with its many shop,
temples , schools.

-most recognizable buildings in the world has been seen numerous times both in local
and foreign movies.
-this is once the tallest building in the world standing at over 450 meters .
PE
Regularity – is the achievement of the desired effect of an exercise.The activity must
done on a regular basis.The exercise routine must be consistent and done on regular
intervals.
Adaptation to physical activity occurs gradually and naturally, but time must be allowed
for the body to regenerate and build .
Overload – is exposing the body to exercise at a higher level than normal to enhance
the quality of fitness.
Proggression
- This means that as body adapts to the initial overload , the overload must be
adjusted and increased gradually. Proper progression should be gradual to avoid
injuries during exercise.

Family Structure
2 types of family
Nuclear family – a family unit consisting of two adults and any number of children living
together. The children might be biological, step or adopted.
Extended family- grandparents, aunts , uncles, and cousins , either all living near by or
within the same household.
Dating and Courtship
Dating
- It is important experience that contributes to the emotional growth and identity
formation of a person.
- This is an exploratory stage where two persons meet socially to assess if they
are suitable for each other.
Courtship
- It implies a deeper sense of commitment.
- This is the period when two persons develop a romantic and intimate relationship
that could lead to marriage.
Marriage
- Courtship culminates in a proposal of marriage from the man to the woman.
Once consent is granted,the union of the man and the woman as husband and
wife is formalized in marriage rites.
Monogamy – a person is allowed to have only one spouse.
Polygamy- a man is allowed to have multiple wives.This practice is an exemption in
Philippine law .
Bigamy- it is an act of entering into marriage with one person while still legally married
to another.
