 What is Libre Office. What are the advantages of libre Office?

LibreOffice is a free and open-source office suite—based on the OpenOffice


codebase—has a clean user interface and feature-rich tools. With LibreOffice,
families, businesses, charities, and government departments can produce neat and
professional-looking documents, ranging from letters, theses, brochures, financial
reports, marketing presentations, even technical drawings, and diagrams. There’s
also no need to worry about whether a document can be opened on LibreOffice, as
the suite supports multiple document formats. These include Microsoft Word
(.doc, .docx), Microsoft Excel (.xls, .xlsx), and even Microsoft PowerPoint
(.ppt, .pptx). Microsoft Publisher and even modern document formats like
OpenDocument Format or ODF are also supported. New functionalities can also be
added to the suite’s tools, as it offers a wide range of extensions and templates. All
of that allows users to create documents faster and smarter.
ADVANTAGES OF LIBRE OFFICE ARE:-

• A completely free software package with no hidden or additional costs ideal for
both individual and business users.

• Compatibility with different and standard file formats such as DOC, DOCX, PPT,
PPTX, XLS, and XSLS, among others.

functionality and flexibility.

• Includes software for word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, vector graphic


editing, mathematical formula creation, and database management.

• Runs on Microsoft Windows, macOS of Apple, and Linux-based operating systems

Components of Libre office suite:

 Writer (Word processor): it is used for creating letters, books, blogs and also
reports.

 Calc (Spreadsheet): It is used for financial and mathematical function.

 Impress (Presentation): it gives a multimedia facility. It gives special effect


animation as well as a drawing tool

 Draw (vector graphics): it is a vector drawing tool that can produce


everything from a simple diagram or flowchart.  
 Base (Database): it helps us to create edit forms, reports and queries
and also a relation.
 Math (formula editor): It can create complex equations as well as
characters.

Office

To create a presentation, simply follow these steps:

1. Start Impress, or choose to create a new presentation through the File


menu in any of the LibreOffice applications.

2. In the Tasks panel on the right, click the Layouts heading.

This opens a panel that gives you 12 different slide layouts to choose from.

3. Click the slide layout you would like to use.

4. Click in the title box and type the title you’d like to use for the slide.

5. Your slide has up to six boxes for content. Click one of these and start
typing to add text in the box.
