Air N2 Receiver Size Estimation

This document calculates the utility air, instrument air, and nitrogen demand for an Alur Siwah CPP. It lists the assumptions considered and itemizes the consumption sources. The key consumption sources of instrument air are control valves, positioners, and analyzers. Utility air is mainly used for utility stations and buildings. Nitrogen is primarily used for tank blanketing and the sulfur recovery unit. The total demands calculated are 415.0 standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM) of continuous instrument air, 1140.0 SCFM of intermittent instrument air, 65.0 SCFM of utility air, 156.0 SCFM of continuous nitrogen, and 744.8 SCFM of intermittent nitrogen.

Basis & Assumptions :

1. Instrument air consumption for instrumentation are asummed belows:
- Control Valve 0.2 scfm/unit
- Positioner + I/P 1.5 scfm/unit
- Analyzer 3.0 scfm/unit
- Control Panel 3.0 scfm/unit
- SDV/BDV > 10" and above 26.0 scfm/unit
- SDV/BDV < 10" 12.0 scfm/unit
2. Air demand shall consider future Compressor :
- Continuous demand 30 scfm
- Intermittent demand 300 scfm
3. For air demand calculation, 120% of continuous and 25% of intermittent users shall be considered.
4. 10 utility station considered in operation with flow rate 5 scfm/unit
5. Nitrogen is used for:
- Tank blanketing
- Sulfur Recovery Unit
- Seal gas for future compressor, 40 scfm shall be considered.
- Analyzer purge
6. For nitrogen demand calculation, 150% of continuous and 25% of intermittent users shall be considered.
7. Ratio of dry air inlet to N2 product is 3 time.
8. 20% of dry air demand is used for drier regeneration
9. Nitrogen suply during strat-up will be back-uped by nitrogen bottle.
10. Air receiver, instrument receiver, and nitrogen receiver holding time is 15 minutes.
