Solution For Online Exam1 Problem

The document contains two problems regarding closed traverse surveys. Problem A involves computing the corrected bearings of lines AB, BC, CD and DA given the forward and backward bearings. The total interior angle is found to be 359°20' with an error of 10'. The corrected bearings are then provided. Problem B involves computing the corrected deflection angles at stations A, B, C and D given the deflection angles and an initial bearing. The error in deflection angles is found to be 4° divided per station. The bearings and azimuths of the lines are then provided.

Problem A.

) From the given data of a closed compass survey, compute the corrected
bearing of all the lines.
lines Forward bearing Backward bearing
AB N240 20’W S250 50’E
BC S450 40’E N450 10’W
CD N700 00’E S700 00’W
DA S350 10’W N 350 30’E

Solution: from the given data sketch the closed traverse and determine the
interior angles, sum them and compare the result to the theoretical total interior angle of a
closed polygon. Total Interior angle of a closed polygon, Ʃint. angle = (𝑛 − 2)180°

<A 24°20’ – 35°30’ = 59°50’

<B =45°40’ – 25°50’ =19°50’

the <C =360°- 45°10’ - 70° =244°50’

<D =70° – 35°10’ = 34°50’
